  1. 6.00pm is the latest time for the anouncement, following on from the its definitely 3.00pm anouncement, so as all bets are off
  2. No cannot see that stock being for anything else than CPW channels.
  3. So 3000 Nexus 5s are at Carphone Warehouse storage in Wednesbury split 50/50 White and Black. Let's hope that's not the whole UK stock......
  4. I am probably going to upset some people but here goes. I am 51 and supported the club for over 40 years and in that time I have seen us play in the old 3rd Division, win the league, the league cup and the big one and if Lerner stays I doubt very much if I will see us play in Europe in the next 5 years and will never see our club challenge for the big trophies because the game is all about money we haven't got. If you had asked me a few years ago about wealthy owners and success I would say I am proud of how we won the league and European cup. Now I say bring it on, if having Red Bull buy the club means we get to see the team challenge for the big trophies again then great. Unfortunately history and heritage don't count for much and neither does being the biggest club in the Midlands when the press don't look further than London, Manchester or Liverpool. To those who think it would be bad I know where you are coming from but I really do think Lerner will eventually cost us our premiership status, new owners just might get us back amongst the big boys. For anyone who thinks rampant commercialism isn't coming to our game I think you might be dissapointed and in that case get in early.......
  5. So if the announcement date is October 31st surely the invites need to be arriving tomorrow or Thursday as the Google Play Event 24th October is nothing to do with hardware.
  6. He must be guilty then.....bastard. He had 2 Wills that he got his father to sign, one leaving the estate jointly to the him & his brother and one leaving it all to him, His father had £650,000+ in a Geneva bank account and the brother forged his fathers signature and wrote to the bank asking for a credit/debtit card for the account but the bank stopped it and informed the authorities. When the family was killed he had taken all the documentation with them on the camping holiday and was planning to visit the bank to sort out legal ownership, only he was stopped before he could.
  7. And that's the power of meeja. Or Lots of facts which I didnt previously know about the finances of the family were brought to light which put a completely different slant on what I had previously thought. Maybe.........................
  8. Anyone see the BBC programme last night about the Alps murders. Completely changed my opinion on this after it. The brother is in it up to his neck.
  9. Ive got to be honest it became a bit of a chore to watch in pretty much the same way Under The Dome has. I persevered with The Following but wont be in a rush to watch season 2
  10. Olympus has fallen - Die Hard at the White House - 3 out of 10. White House Down - Die Hard at the White House - 7 out of 10 Die Hard 9 out of 10

    Windows 8

I am surprised that from what little I have seen the Apps arent as fully functional as the Android equivalent. My wife bought the win8 laptop because she couldnt get on with the Android tablet. She went to list some items using the ebay app but no matter what she did the photo she was uploading appeared upside down, even when it was rotated on the PC to be up side down. She then wanted to delte some items from here watched list and neither of us could find out how to do it (obviously there might be a way but if its not easy then how are people supposed to use it) In the end she got out the Android tablet and did it on there. If in 8.1 you can default to boot to the desktop a la win 7 not the awful win 8 version then thats an improvement at least.
  12. And here are some press shot leaks..............
  13. So the Nexus 5 appeared on the Play Store last night for a brief moment................ The phone is listed as starting at $349 (presumably a 16GB model). That converts to £215 (pre VAT) so £260 with VAT
  14. I must admit that in some of the episodes of Homeland i find myself watching the clock but Sundays episode I actually thought was quite good. I think Brody comes back into it next week and it can go one of two ways, he either becomes a full on terrorist or considering someone moved his car he perhaps goes on some sort of Jihad revenge operation in an effort to clear his name.
  15. Walking Dead got off to a really good start but rumours from across the pond suggest it really ramps up in episode 2.......

    Windows 8

Its absolutely the Metro interface. Lots of us are tech savvy and can work round the issues that Windows 8 offers but trying to explain to a 75 year old women that she needs to go to the desktop and work from there because you get options you wont get through the start screen highlights for me where Microsoft has gone wrong. For those of us that used Windows 3.1 and up when there has been a change it has been gradual and hasnt changed that much. My mother in-lawa and wife wife who bought a Win 8 laptop yesterday asked me where the Red X has gone, and "there isnt any way to close the program". Now I am sure there will be a keyboard shortcut but they arent going to remember that. Give a 75 year old an Ipad show them how it works and they will get on far better with it than a 75 year old given a Windows 8 Tablet - and I am by no means a Apple or Ipad fan.

    Smart Watches

Anything worn on the wrist as a watch needs primarily to be a watch with added functionality. It will be interesting to see if the watch will use the Google Glass apps as it follow a similar ration to the screen in Glass.
  18. So the latest Nexus rumours are that the 5 will be available in 16 & 32gb adn the starting price for the 16gb will be around £300 inc VAT. The Nexus 4 will have LTE added and the 16gb version will be up for sale at £224.00 inc VAT. I cannot see many people choosing the 4 over the 5 to save £70.00.....would you?
  19. Bought one of these about 2 or 3 months ago for the mother-in-law as a cheap way for her to get iPlayer on her TV and thought for £10.00 from Sky that it was a bargain and at the time did a little search to see if they could be hacked to be even more useful. The view was as it lacked a USB port that the chances of that happening were pretty remote. Got back last night to find a parcel waiting for me and I had won one in a competition. Looked on ebay to see how little they were going for and found lots of them being flogged but with the useful addition of Plex on there. A quick google found out you can put these into developer mode with a few key presses on the remote and then from a PC you can sideload Roku Apps onto them through your web browser. 10 minutes later and I have Plex working on there and stream media of my PC wirelessly. It looks as though other apps can be sideloaded and I will dig deeper. A cheap way to add media streaming to any TV or though admittedly its no Chromecast.

    Windows 8

but doesnt running it from Metro mean you lose tabbed browsing?
  21. You can spin it both ways I suppose but one of the things I had in my mind as I sat down to watch this was being that Webber was on pole how would Red Bull handle getting Webber to concede track position to Vettel and the way it happened was very convenient for them. On a related matter did anyone see the program on BBC 2 on Sunday night "How to build a supercar", it was well worth a watch as it was all about McLaren and their new supercar they are producing. I only ask because Ron Dennis was in it a far bit and one of the comments he made was basically coming 2nd doesnt count................I wonder where finish 9th, 10th and 11th counts in his scale. It does make you wonder how much the building of the new factory and the production of the car somehow meant that McLaren took their eye of F1 for a short time and havent caught up this season.

    Smart Watches

Its rumoured that the Google Gem will run some kind of Google Now interface which sounds quite cool with the one proviso that it has some kind of in built watch facility that somehow syncs with your phone when paired but isnt reliant on a bluetooth connection to show the time as this is how the 2 Sony smartwatches have worked and its a pain in the ass.

    Windows 8

Pardon my ignorance but my time spent with Win 8 is probably about 3 hours only. I take it you mean instead of using the IE icon in Metro you have to launch the desktop and then run IE from there? Isnt that a bit half arsed? From my brief time using Win 8 I just think it is a very poorly conceived and executed GUI. I wouldnt be at all surprised that Win 9 goes back to the more traditional layout with an option to run a metro style interface if you choose.
  24. Gary Anderson on the BBC questions Red Bulls tactics: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/24514661?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  25. The only reason Webber didn't win that race was because he got stuck behind Grosjean. Vettel is faster than Webber so he made his strategy work better. Sometimes I think people think Webber should be the triple world champion and it's only that pesky kid on the other side of the garage that has foiled him It was more to do with the fact that Webber was one of only 5 drivers who had a 3rd change of tyre when compared to SVs 2. Red Bull knew that there was no chance that Webber would conceed to Vettell through team orders so chose to make sure that Vettell got passed him on pit stops. Vettell did 3 more laps on the first tyre and 9 more on the second, only Rosberg managed less laps on his 2nd set of tyres than Webber did.
