Yeah, he has such a distinctive visual and dialogue style that I can see why some people wouldn't like him. Personally I think he's a god damn genius.

Well, we have Robert Eggers and Ari Aster at the moment doing stellar work in the genre, and creative forces like Issa Lopez, Benson and Moorhead so maybe they will encourage others to follow suit. I love an old fashioned 'hokey' horror movie but the genre has definitely moved on in some areas and is all the better for it.

Overall I enjoyed it but I'll admit to being a Myers fanboy so my viewpoint is probably slightly skewed. It was a real 'patchwork' of a movie, with some things working and some things being absolute bobbins. So yeah, after the excellent Halloween 2018 I expected more - hopefully Ends will be a decent finale.

I think it's a time issue. Paul and Jessica were well fleshed out (Chalamet does melancholy very well) but with so much story to get through I don't think it's a surprise that many of the secondary characters didn't get too much development. If you've read the book you'll know that it's full of inner monologues which cover off that aspect very well. Unfortunately just not possible for the movie.

Dune was absolutely stunning. If you have any intention of seeing it then try to watch it on the big screen. Visually and sonically its a masterpiece.

How can something with such an exciting premise look so bland? Absolute cookie cutter action blockbuster.

It's had very good reviews. If I was being a bit naughty I would suggest that the majority of the cinema going public don't tend to bother with films with any real substance these days.
