  1. Just finished Loki (yep, I'm way behind on the shows). Enjoyed it overall, interesting enough story and Tom Hiddlestone just IS Loki now. Could have done with trimming some of the two hander dialogue scenes though.
  2. Scrooged last night, Gremlins tonight. Already got through a few of our regulars, Krampus, Better Watch Out, Rare Exports, Wonderful Life and Trading Places all done. Bad Santa on the 23rd and then Muppets and Alistair Sim Scrooge on Xmas Eve as is tradition.
  3. Yeah, never ever understood the love for that one. Almost as bad as Jingle all the Way. The original Vacation is a 100 times better.
  4. Just back from No Way Home. Yeah, absolutely nailed it. Superb stuff.
  5. Seagal is such a loathsome piece of shit. Amazed he still gets any roles tbh.
  6. I'll preface this by saying that I very rarely use a Dex build as it doesn't suit my play style, however: Dex doesn't affect the backstab damage - the weapon you are using does. Different weapon classes will have different crit modifiers. Dex plus a shield is perfectly viable yes - go for a small/medium shield though due to str needed for larger ones. I recommend getting the Grass Crest Shield as soon as possible as it has a Stam regen buff. Some of the starting weapons can carry you through the entire game so yes, if you are happy with the weapon you are using go to Andre and get some upgrades. I often upgrade the Zweihander to +15 and you can find that weapon a minutes walk from Firelink Shrine. iirc, the Balder Knight side sword is great for Dex and you should be able to farm one of them near where you fought the Gargoyles. Recommend you learn Pyromancy as soon as poss (you'll find the 'source' in the Depths) - it works a treat as an accompanying skill to Dex. Have fun and 'don't go hollow!'
  7. I booed at a Michael Bay film in the cinema once.
  8. Excellent new psychological drama/thriller from New Zealand. Well acted, tense and quite shocking in parts. Recommended.
  9. Ah shit that's a pisser mate. I know how much you love the Marvel stuff (I was looking forward to your review tbh).
  10. Oh absolutely. Definitely go with the shield for a while, it's what most people (including me) did. BTW, re. Gargoyles - summon Solaire for the fight. He's a BIG help.
  11. It's amazing how much you rely on a shield when you first play (no bad thing). I very very rarely use on on my playthroughs now as I tend to just go light armour and dodge even if I'm a strength build (unless I go Giant Dad which is **** fun)
  12. Tonight's Xmas movie sorted. Love this one.
  13. @Wainy316 Quick tip for DS3. You may want to look up a guide on how to get to Archdragon Peak.
  14. DS 2 is considered the red headed step child of the series but for me it's still an 8/10 game and one that I've finished over 20 times. *edit* @Chindiehas beaten me to it with his on point summary so I'll just add my own pros and cons: PROS: - Superb character and class customisation with a dazzling array of different choices. - The best Hub area in the entire series. Majula is just a beautiful setting and its soundtrack is lovely. - Best and most 'fair' PvP in the series. - Heides Tower of Flame plus some other excellent areas. - Best DLC in all the series and probably the most punishing (thus satisfying) CONS: - It lacks the clever world connectivity of DS1 and some areas don't hang together well. - ADP is a pain in the arse stat and there's a reason it was binned after one game. - quite a few generic boss fights and as Chindie mentioned, a fair few gank adds. - The Shrine of Amana. If you're playing as a melee only build then good luck. If you're not then good luck anyway. **** that place. - Some hit box inconsistencies One of the biggest changes that appeared in DS2 (and never returned) was most enemies have limited respawns. That one caused massive controversy in the DS community. Personally didn't mind it. So yeah, great game but a few issues.
  15. Agree Tone. First ep was OK and then we watched ep 2 and I said to the missus "Is it me or has this gone properly downhill?" - watched the rest and it didn't recover. Such a shame.
  16. Good stuff. So I'm assuming you're in the Catacombs of Carthus now? That area can be a bit tricky on first visit (especially the double spawning skellies) but if it's any consolation it has one of the easiest soulsborne bosses ever! Re. the build - Merc is fine and pretty cool for a Dex build (they start with the twin swords iirc and that's a great weapon especially when imbued with Lightning) - I wouldn't bother too much with STR as you won't get much benefit from it as a Merc. Make sure you keep to light armour to keep your equip load manageable (this means you'll keep to fast rolling) Let me know if you need any help - always happy to log on for some co-op.
  17. Where are you up to btw @Wainy316? And what class did you go with? (I'm always interested when someone is having fun on these games cause they're my faves)
  18. Yes. I've done it countless times - that's what they are there for and part of the fun. The only downside is that they increase the bosses health pool, but it's worth it imo.
  19. Great win. Gerrard continues to impress. Long may it continue. That is all.
  20. It's a wonderful life (It's a wonderful film, but the more I watch it the more I want Potter to succeed, not least when that lot up the road come out into the street every New Year's Eve, drunk on Ptolemy's Hock, hugging each other and going 'hee-haw-hee-hawww'...) Every time a bell rings I hate you some more Every time a bell rings I hate you some more Every time a bell rings I hate you some more Every time a bell rings Thanks Nigel.
