  1. Yes very much so. It was in my films of the year list. To each his own eh
  2. In a nutshell the whole movie is an attack on the ridiculous elitism within the fine dining community. It also has a very cynical, almost surreal look and feel which doubles down on the absurdity of the diners and the dishes served. There's plenty more to unpack but that's the basics that I took from it.
  3. Second watch of this gem last night... Just utterly, utterly brilliant. Quite surreal, very touching and I don't think another film has made me laugh so much for years. Superb.
  4. It's OK but not a patch on the Swedish original from a few years ago.
  5. Yeah I got it in the sale for 43 quid iirc. Bit expensive but it's proven to be a worthwhile splurge.
  6. One of the things that attracted me to the game (apart from the very positive reviews) was the XCom type gameplay - as a veteran of that genre (going back to Laser Squad on the Amiga) I have always found that approach to combat very fulfilling when done well - and this is done VERY well. Re. the Card Game element - there are cards in it and they get dealt at the start of each combat phase. Each card is a specific tier and power and you choose them based on situation. For me, it works very well for this sort of turn based combat because it means you are not relying on the same set of actions for each encounter and definitely makes things less predictable. I've found the out of combat stuff at the base quite relaxing too - just exploring the grounds and having a pint with Blade is a great way to spend an hour or so.
  7. 2 nil to us. (That's that **** then)
  8. Yeah it's great. Not got the Plat yet as I tend to dip in and out of it now and again (kengif) but once you get your eye in with the combat its a real joy to play. Have you played Midnight Suns yet Chindie? Think you'd enjoy it.
  9. Yeah these are perfect for someone like me who was intrigued (and enjoyed) the story but was so completely apathetic by the gameplay that they never finished the games.
  10. Tough boss. Think I gave in and used summoning on my first playthrough. That third phase is the stuff of nightmares.
  11. Yeah, the video for the new single (which I posted a few days ago in the What Song thread) has animation by ColdWarSteve - it's a terrific vid tbf.
  12. Yeah, there's definitely elements of Child's Play (especially the remake).
  13. Just back from this... Yep, good fun. Has a wickedly dark sense of humour and there's no pretension about it being anything other than a bit of OTT entertainment.
  14. Pity she was dubbed and had a body double for the nude scenes.
  15. Monkey was daft fun, but I always preferred The Water Margin tbh.
  16. If you liked Tap, I recommend any of the other Christopher Guest mockumentaries. Best in Show is a particular favourite of mine but they are all good
  17. Those lovely Sleaford Mods boys have a new album 'UK GRIM' out in March. First day purchase and I'd imagine it will be pretty high in my end of year list.
  18. What sort of monster puts crumpets into a toaster?!! Some people are just scum
