Just back from watching this...
Yeah, it's definitely on the 'Good Shyamalan' team and even though there are some plotholes and odd character decisions, it's streamlined and tautly directed with the small cast doing a good job with each role (particularly impressed with Dave Bautista who is turning into quite an accomplished character actor).
Just on the above bit @StefanAVFCTake it from someone who's put a few hours into it...the gameplay is far from boring (there is soooo much stuff to do and most of it so far has been executed very well) and the combat is really solid too. In fact, once you get a couple of different spells you can get some really nice flowing combos going.
For those of you into the lore, make sure you don't skip any of the cutscenes in the 'tutorial' section (which is brilliant btw)
There's a little touch in one scene that had me smiling at its smartness.
I think sometimes TV Shows, movies etc etc just don't click for some people like they do for the majority.
I think it's absolutely top tier stuff but each to their own
I'm not a fan of the game (tried repeatedly to get into it) although I can also appreciate why it's held in high regard.
The show though...is different gravy. Its absolutely fantastic.
Rewatched this last night for the first time in around 20 years.
It's certainly not lost any of its power. It is a particularly grim piece of work with only the occasional slivers of light and levity, but its absolutely engrossing and the central performance from Brad Davis is superb.
Such a shame that he (Davis) died so young as I can imagine he'd have a good body of work by now.
If you've never seen it, get on it ASAP (it's on Netflix).
I mean that's just so wrong it should be on a ladder.
One of the reasons it worked so well is because of the nuanced interplay and chemistry between two actors at the absolute top of their game.
