Nowhere near as good as this directors previous effort (House of the Devil). It has a really decent set-up in the first third; interesting, reasonably sympathetic characters, a decent back story to the main premise but then...well, apart from a decent cameo from Kelly McGillis, it just sort of stalls and fails to deliver on the early promise.
Why can't contemporary movie directors grasp the concept of horror? So many new horror films fail at the absolute basic level...being able to scare.
It's either the world being too desensitised or me being too cynical.
