  1. Totally agree. It did back up what i've always said about Michael Mann though. He's a good director but really struggles to direct people.
  2. Love that movie Bri. The cast is absolutely top notch and Colm Meaney is terrific. "Do I have a Ronnie?"
  3. Not scary? I guess that depends on your definition of scary. It made me very, very uncomfortable at times, that for me is enough to warrant it's "horror" tag. Agree with the rest though, magnificent film. Is it your first foray into Spanish cinema? Let me recommend The Devils Backbone, Amores Perros, REC, Celda 211 and of course Pans Labyrinth if it is. If not, you've probably seen all of them in which case, ignore me. Some great suggestions there, for Spanish language I'll just throw in The Maid, Volver, Sin Nombre, Bad Education, Satanás, Y Tu Mamá También, The Sea Inside and Maria full of Grace. And of course, everyone should watch Secret in their eyes, which is easily one of the best movies ever made (imo of course)
  4. It's an incredible film, beautifully shot with many nods to Del Toro, wonderfully creepy, and Belén Rueda is absolutely superb in the lead role. It's also another movie heavily influenced by the Turn of the Screw (The Innocents and The Others being another couple I mentioned earlier in the thread) And it's one of the only movies that has ever genuinely made me blub like a girl. /notgheyhonest
  5. The MMO slag. I feel used.
  6. The best MMO community i've ever played with is LOTRO, by an absolute mile.
  7. GW2 will give it a good run for it's money, the beta has been excellent and the no subscription fee will no doubt be a pull. I still play WoW from time to time though, and will definitely be picking up Mists and getting at least one of my many 85's to 90.
  8. Mists of Pandaria release date announced
  9. It was a great bit of entertainment, but **** me was it full of plot holes, inconsistencies and some awful editing (some of the cuts were really harsh) that I wouldn't have expected from Nolan. Still, it was 1,000,000 times better than the Inception borefest. Hopefully, he'll do something a little more like Memento/Prestige next.
  10. I see what you mean, and I would have liked that ending too only if they hadn't dropped the other two obvious hints that he survived
  11. I posted the trailer for that on my FB page yesterday. Even though the 'found footage' genre has been done to death the last few years, i'm still intrigued by it as it looks genuinely unsettling.
  12. In my top five of all time. It also has my favourite scene in a movie ever in it.
  13. Weird, I knew there were three installments of Maniac Cop ~ Good old Robert 'You broke that jaw?' Z'Dar.
  14. Oh, if we're talking outside of Batman then put Preacher at the top of your list. Best.Comics.Ever.
  15. Blimey. HL2 is still the greatest FPS ever imo.
  16. In no particular order, the Batman graphic novels that I've read that I would recommend would be: The Dark Knight Returns Tower of Babel A Death in the Family The Killing Joke Hush Gothic Killing Joke Judgment on Gotham Vendetta in Gotham Arkham Asylum I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will have lots more, but those are the ones I've read and enjoyed.
  17. It is a good film. You won't be leaving the landing light on at night after it but it's an enjoyable film and worth watching IMHO. Of all the 'Turn of the Screw' adaptations i thought The Innocents was easily the best version. Nice and creepy and some gorgeous cinematography from Hammer studios favourite Freddie Francis. Well worth a watch.
  18. Really enjoyed Haywire, particularly the 'no frills' action sequences. Wasn't too keen on Ewan McGregors acting though. He definitely seems to be an actor on a backwards trajectory in terms of performance. And yes, another cracking David Holmes score ive got Haywire coming on lovefilm along with Mungo Lake... u seen that one? a horror shot in a camcorder style..supposed to be underrated but we'll see i guess Really enjoyed Lake Mungo. The acting in it was top notch, and because of that, you're almost convinced that it's a true story. It's also got some genuinely interesting twists and turns too.
  19. I mentioned the Innkeepers a bit earlier in thread and said at the time I was quite disappointed with it as I adored the House of the Devil. Whether or not it's because I have an affinity with 70s/80s horror movies i'm not sure but I thought West nailed that films tone and sense of foreboding terror perfectly. Apart from a few unsettling moments, Innkeepers was a very average movie and I absolutely hated the ending.
  20. Agree with Mr.juanpabloangel18 on that one. I think Memento will be remembered (see what I did there?) as a classic movie and Nolan is yet to top it imo. Prestige is an excellent movie, but I felt so underwhelmed by the ending that it took a fair bit of the enjoyment away.
  21. I'll just add my usual 'If you haven't read the book then get it' line here.
