  1. Epic book. If anyone can live up to the role it's M.Shannon.
  2. Some crackers there hogso, particularly Isabelle Huppert in Piano Teacher, such a beautifully deranged performance without overplaying it.

    Running

A couple of mates were trying to rope me into it, but it's a little bit too soon for me yet and I don't want to risk any serious injury (two hernia ops is enough thanks) Aiming for 10k before the end of the year then 10-13 miles early next year. Great to be back running again though, really enjoyed the last few months.
  6. Bob Hoskins retires from acting. Shit news, always been a big fan of Bob. 24/7, Mona Lisa and ofc The Long Good Friday all standouts.
  7. It's a very solid RPG. It's quite refreshingly difficult to play, the quests you embark on are invariably half a map away and getting to them becomes a big part of the challenge. There's also a distinct lack of hand holding, which can frustrate some players, but I quite like it. The art design is pretty standard fantasy fare, but I've been impressed with the look of the 'larger' enemies you come across. The 'Pawn' system is interesting too, allowing you to be accompanied by player created avatars. Combat-wise is where it really shines for me though. Once you get to grips with it, it's very satisfying. All in all, it's a worthwhile experience. I'm definitely aiming to complete it at some point in the near future.
  8. Apart from the obvious exercise ones (I run and do a bit of mountain biking) I like to do mostly creative activities/hobbies. I like to write (short stories mostly) although I'm working on a novel/script concurrently, but that is the definition of a long term project (three years so far). Writing of course has the advantage of being a 'cheap as chips' hobby as something to note your babbling ideas on is all you need. I also dabble in oil painting, and usually produce a couple of canvases a year. Again, it's reasonably cheap to get into and (for me at least) immensely satisfying.
  9. My most anticipated game of 2012. Played all the beta and stress tests and it's shaping up to be an absolute gem. The first GW (although technically not an MMO) is still one of my favourite games ever and I think the pull of having no subscription fees will see it become one of the most successful MMO's ever. Roll on August 25th.
  10. I'm going to that as well...as the bootleg Mark Chapman. (Copyright HMHB)
  11. You may have read very good things about it in this thread too It's brilliant by the way.
  12. I will exclude PC games as that's a constantly evolving platform, so console wise: Dark Souls (best game of this generation by a mile imo) Oblivion (twice the game of Skyrim imo) Limbo Fallout New Vegas Assassins Creed Brotherhood Bubbling under: Borderlands
  13. One of the best things i've seen this year. Not a version of the classic Grimm tale (although the book does play a big part), but a South Korean dark fantasy horror movie. Flawless in every aspect from the script, to the acting and gorgeous cinematography (If you get a chance to see it on Bluray then I'd recommend you do). A little warning, the tone get's very dark in certain scenes but it's all completely justified within the story. Highly recommended.
  14. Come on Si, don't tell us you couldn't make one... I've done them for friends and family before (who have asked me to, I hasten to add) but I just find these 'Definitive Lists' and '5 Million Movies You MUST see before you die!' for the most part utterly pointless. One man's Vertigo is another mans Ishtar.
  15. After watching it again last night, i'll agree with those who said it improves on repeat viewing. I let the (many) flaws wash over me and just enjoyed the spectacle.
  16. http://www.fiftyshadesgenerator.com/ "My chlamydia canal was trembling like a tasered slab of chopped liver. Hours of **** like this would leave any girl's piss flaps looking like a darts team's goalkeeper, and I was no different! By now, my vaginal bacon buffet was oozing like a broken fridge freezer. There was cock snot draining from his spam javelin and I was wetter than an Italian cruise ship. We were ready for more. Within no time, I could feel the shitty baby gravy weeping from my brown mile and all over my sugared almond."
  17. The product placement in Casino Royale was painful.
  18. Have you seen Herzog's "My Best Fiend"? Silly question, of course you have. You know me too well Mike.
  19. Just about to start on Kinski Uncut (Klaus Kinski autobiography) He was some character was our Klaus.
  20. Have you read The Heroin Diaries? Even for someone like me who despises the music of Motley Crue, it's an incredible read. I preferred it to many retrospective biographies as he (Nikki Sixx) wrote the diary during one of his years on heroin. It's fascinating stuff.
  21. "Respect the cock, and tame the word removed! Tame it!" Anyway, things that piss you off that shouldn't...
  22. On Depp, my favourite film he's in (apart from Nightmare on Elm Street of course ) is the excellent Ed Wood, him and Landau are great in that movie.
