  2. Reminds me of Frank from Donnie Darko.
  3. Have you seen Cronos or Devil's Backbone? Both excellent, particularly the latter which is a brilliant ghost story with all his usual visual flourishes. I think the only del Toro movie I haven't been that enamoured with is Pacific Rim. I just didn't think it was his type of movie (apart from the scenes with Ron Perlman).
  4. If you think the original Robocop is in any way shape or form 'shiny' then I can only assume you haven't seen it. It's a gloriously grubby movie, with jet black wit and a lovely sense of satire that is (again, only from what i can see from the trailers) completely missing from this remake.
  5. Judging purely from the trailers, the remake of Robocop looks like an overblown box of shiny bollox to me.
  6. Fonda as an absolutely evil piece of work. Jack Elam and the fly . The whole soundtrack and each characters signature piece of music. Brilliant movie.
  7. Watched the first three episodes of The Returned. Brilliant stuff.
  8. Think I saw them (Dub War) supporting the Manics. May be wrong though, the old memory is a bit hazy after so many years (and gigs). Just remember them being excellent. Think I might have seen Skindred a few times too.
  9. Loved Dub War - Got into them through a sampler from Earache. Saw them live a few times and they were superb. Really liked Benji's other band Skindred too.
  10. Cannot wait New character models look great
  11. The kid off the original Connect 4 box. When I was a kid obviously Otherwise, there would have to be some seriously weird stuff going on.
  12. Wish I could like this a million times. I think everything they did after that was a poor relative to be honest. Mandylion is pretty much a flawless album for me. I remember seeing the video to Leaves on MTV years ago (mid 90's?) and I just fell in love with that track. Anneke van Giersbergen has such a brilliant voice too. I've been meaning to check out her other stuff for a while.
  13. The first movie I ever saw on video was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Watched it on a sunny Saturday afternoon on my uncles Betamax top loader around my Nans house. My mom and dad were both in attendance and didn't seem to think it would be too bad for me to watch as I was already a big fan of the old Universal and Hammer horror movies. I was eight. It explains a fair bit if i'm honest.
  14. I consider myself a movie buff but I have never heard of any of the above movies. They aren't really obscure to be fair. If you haven't seen Lars and the Real Girl or Safety Not Guaranteed I would definitely recommend those.
  15. The Life and Times of an Elderly Superhero - Superb paintings.
  16. Watched that again just the other night. It's a really good low budget movie, with a nice tight storyline and a great OTT performance from Bill Paxton. The bar scene is fantastic.
  17. This season's Boardwalk has been brilliant, possibly the most consistent of it's series yet. Slow simmering, well thought out storylines for each character and some fantastic scenes. Special mention for Brian Geraghty who is an absolute piece of work . The two latest episodes have been outstanding.
  18. And then the Norwegian Priest turned up...
  19. I much prefer the first part. Find the second part and bit too down tempo with a bit much fannying about. First part is much more accessible with a good range. Can't get on with the new Arcade Fire at all. I'm all for bands evolving, but this album is just too much of a departure for me. Maybe it needs a few more listens to get it hooks in.
  20. If you must, then just a little bit of water. Anything else is blasphemous.
  21. Such brilliantly observed comedy. I just love the Christopher Guest mockumentaries.
