One of my favourites during my uni years. Saw them a few times, the first of which was supporting the Weddoes in Brum.
Still enjoy listening to them from time to time and When in Rome Kill Me is still a belting album to this day.
My youngest identifies as Non Binary and after three years I still make the occasional She/Her fuckup .
Years of hardwired naming conventions are difficult to undo.
Went to a limited screening of this tonight...
Very good satirical spoof of horror slasher movies, which takes many of the well worn clichés of that genre and turns them into a terrific comedy ensemble piece.
Very meta, and very funny.
That's actually a pretty good remake (they do exist occasionally ) - although the JD Baker original is superior (even though its not without its problems).
It was Richard Kelly's follow on movie from the superb Donnie Darko.
Unfortunately, it was a total bloated mess (tonally and from a story pov), so completely bombed critically and financially and has been all but forgotten.
A shame really as he (Kelly) showed so much promise with DD.
Only ever seen this movie once. Its brilliant but not an easy watch. I was the same with City of Life and Death, which was another superbly done war movie but a one time only viewing.
The scene in the church (and pretty much the whole movie tbh) is ridiculously hard hitting.
Watching that in the cinema was a terrific experience. The sound design is phenomenal especially when they are at the party and it starts kicking off.
It loses a fair amount on the small screen but I still think it's a really well made creature feature.
I actually think the second movie is superior (John Goodman is terrific in it) but the third one can get in the **** sea. So disappointed with that
