  1. Yeah I remember reading that book a few years ago. It's daft fun and I can see it working well on film if handled correctly. Unfortunately it's Eli Roth which will mean it'll probably be a load of utter cobblers like his other work.
  2. Excellent appointment imo. Always had a lot of time for him and he always comes across as a decent fella. I think his experience and enthusiasm will be a big plus. Welcome Ray.
  3. I'd find it utterly impossible to pick a favourite year if I'm honest. I could probably name at least ten great movies that I love for most years. That's just me and my movie obsession though
  4. R.I.P James Horner The Wrath of Khan soundtrack is a particular favourite of mine. A very talented composer indeed.
  5. And the much overlooked Year of the Dragon, which i've always liked.
  6. The problem is that Marx's labour theory of value predicts that it would not be possible and not even desirable. The reason Champagne is expensive is that the traditional method of making it is very labour-intensive, especially the remuage process where each bottle is turned a minute amount by hand and le dosage where wine and sugar are added for secondary fermentation. Under a socialist system, wasting precious man-hours on such a decadent and frivolous product, when the manpower could be used to produce essential goods, would be total anathema. If you want Champaign for everyone, you need a capitalist system where large amounts of capital is invested to automate the process, which would lower the price, and make it accessible to all. Reading that back this image kept popping into my head

  10. I'm so excited to get "?????" printed on my shirt this year. New signing?
  11. After having it on heavy rotation since it's release, i've come to the conclusion it's their 2nd best album and there's only a gnats cock between it and Angel Dust. Absolutely sublime, not a single filler track.
  12. Brilliant, I need something new to watch now Game of Thrones has finished.
  13. Re. Clive Owen, we've had this discussion on here a few times before but he can act. Unfortunately, the occasions on which he shows this are so few and far between and are so bogged down with all the other interminable rubbish he's produced they are overlooked.
  14. I'd like this, because it takes someone I really hate and puts him in a franchise that I never watch Perfick. Yeahhhhh no. I prefer my Bond actors to be able to act. So you're not a big fan of Roger Moore then
  15. It's interesting for someone who has worked in the creative industry for my entire career to read some of these views on beards and tattoos etc. I think I wore a suit for my first ever interview over twenty years ago and since then it's been shirt and jeans even when I've been meeting my clients for the first time. As for stubble? Never even crosses my mind to shave for any kind of meeting. Just goes to show the difference in industries I suppose.
  16. One of the few movies where I've walked out of the cinema. Absolute toss.
  17. I think this could be a very shrewd signing. More please.
  18. The first time I saw it in the cinema was an incredible experience. At that time the CGI was utterly mind blowing and you couldn't wait to see the next dinosaur on screen. Unfortunately now that the CGI doesn't look as good (obviously) and the visual impact is lessened, what you are left with is some decent set pieces, a somewhat disjointed story and some of Spielberg's usual sentimental tropes.
  19. I would imagine it had the same affect on a kid that Star Wars had on me (I was 22 when the first JP came out so the impact was considerably less)
  20. I've always been more of a fan of Crichton's Westworld tbh. A much better take on the 'Man shouldn't play God' cautionary tale.
