  1. Wow, blast from the past - He was ace
  2. Mad Max is excellent fun mate but MGS is heading for 'Best game of this generation' territory. Picked MM up today, **** loving it so far. Bit rough around the edges but that kind of works in its favour in a rusty clunky open world I think. Some stunning views in it. Looking forward to getting stuck into it. Reminds me of RDR, Rage and Shadow of Mordor rolled into one. Could see why some would think it's a bit plop though but I've completely bought into it and fallen for its charms. It's fantastic fun. I've put a quite a few hours into it and the only minor quibbles I have are a] it's quite easy and b] the side missions get a little repetitive. Apart from that it's a joy to play. It nails the George Miller atmosphere and I think it's a worthy addition to the Mad Max universe.
  3. I'm seeing them (again) in December in Brum. Cannae wait

  5. That's on the list Mike. Massive fan of Tom Courtenay.
  6. Very good indeed. I'd feared it might be overly manipulative and cliched, and although it does veer in that direction a few times it's elevated by three fantastic performances from J.Moore, A.Baldwin and (honestly) K.Stewart. Moore is the highlight though, utterly sublime as Alice and well worthy of the praise.
  7. The whole Sherwood 'facials' thing. Reasonably funny to begin with, but irritating now. Sorry.

  9. I spent a good 10-15 minutes earlier planning an assassination mission, just watching the movement of the guards, looking for weaknesses etc. Anyway, the plan is going smoothly and I seem to have the correct approach when I get spotted by a guard and all hell breaks loose in typical exclamation mark style. Then at that precise moment a sandstorm breaks out and myself and the enemy find ourselves struggling for visibility. So, I stagger about blindly in the general direction of the base, hop through an open window and find myself face to face with my assassination target who I quickly relieve of life. I then jump back through the window, out into the still ongoing sandstorm and peg it away from the base. Just as i'm out of the danger zone, the sandstorm subsides and the mission is complete. I am willing to bet if I tried the mission again, the sandstorm wouldn't materialise. This game is **** gold.
  10. Some of us have had it since then anyway
  11. I haven't a clue about the characters and it hasn't affected my enjoyment one bit. It's a completely different animal to the usual MGS games, and that's a huge positive for me because I've not enjoyed them since the ps1 game.
  12. It's utterly fantastic so far and lives up to the hype.
  13. Nice one Rob Congrats to you and the good lady
  14. Well Mad Max is tremendous fun so far. Takes a couple of hours to really get going and for the world to open up but once it does, it really pulls you in. There is an abundance of different challenges/missions to complete and the map is huge. The only slight gripe is some of the controls can be a little clunky and unresponsive on occasion but that's a minor quibble. As for Metal Gear, I haven't even gone past the opening sequence yet...
  15. As I said elsewhere, I think he'd be a very shrewd signing. Always liked him and I think his experience would be a real positive.
  16. Yep, I would be VERY surprised if we didn't bring at least one more player in.
  17. Has there ever been an exception to this? There's been so many that surely there's at least one passable one nestled away somewhere, but for the life of me I can't think of one. I like the first Silent Hill movie. Mostly because the director was a big fan of the games and it showed in the cinematography. It still had a myriad of issues, but it's definitely a cut above.
  18. Ooooo - didn't know that Yes, i'm another huge fan of Just Cause - looking forward to 3.
