  2. I think I made it as far as Skellig (sp?) islands and then just gave up. I admired the world-building but felt everything else lacked somewhat. It had a huge amount of potential but I found it to be a bit of a missed opportunity. Such a shame because the first few days I was absolutely hooked, but it just seemed to run out of steam.
  3. OK, just as well i'm sad enough to keep lists of all the movies I watch I've gone through and picked a 'few' out. I haven't included many of the established 'classics' as i'm sure you're aware of most of them anyway. I've tried to put a good cross section of supernatural, psychological and gore and other bits and bobs. So here you go: The Devils Backbone Funny Games The Orphanage The Mist REC 1 and 2 The Devil Rides Out The Haunting (1963) Mum and Dad Frontiers Calvaire High Tension Maniac (2012) V/H/S Spring Resolution You're Next Creep Grave Encounters The Abandoned Eden Lake 30 Days of Night The Changeling Don't Look Now Exorcist III Nosferatu Wicker Man The Children Antichrist Shallow Grave Skeleton Key Suspiria Tenebrae The Last Exorcism The Crazies The Loved Ones Lake Mungo Julias Eyes Frozen (no, not that one) Mothers Day Wake Wood Bedevilled Kill List Aston Villa Season Review 2015-2016 The Innocents Shadow of the Vampire (if you watch Nosferatu this is a must-see) Session 9 Peeping Tom The Tunnel Excision Berberian Sound Studio American Mary Livid Night of the Demon Videodrome Near Dark In Fear The Borderlands Funhouse Would you rather Willow Creek The Sacrament The Descent Housebound Deborah Logan
  4. I'm not a huge fan of jump scare horror tbh. There's absolutely no craft to it at all. Give me a movie that generates an overall unsettling mood anytime (The Shining / Don't Look Now etc etc)
  5. Talking of horror movies, my tip for one to look out for this year is The Witch: It looks beautifully creepy.
  6. I watched it again recently and enjoyed it even more. The sense of dread and foreboding that's created is just magnificent. Superb movie.
  7. I don't think the Horror genre is for you.
  8. Nah, I'd always thought that was when he had to go and appear on Junior Kick Start. ( one for the HMHB fans there)
  9. The last half an hour makes the first half an hour look like an episode of Heartbeat. I love the **** out that movie (and soundtrack) but it's only something I can watch now and again due to it's story.
  10. "Bow to your sensei!" Rex Kwon Do - Legend
  11. The 90's for me were the best, but like any decade if you only look to the mainstream surface of the music scene at the time you may have missed out on some gems.
  12. Enjoyable. Definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of Kevin Bacon as he puts in a good performance here, as do the two young actors.
  13. John Wick was fantastic, OTT fun. The choreography on some of the shoot outs was absolutely stunning. Really loved all the 'hotel for assassins' concept too - all done with a smart sense of humour.
  14. Unfortunately, the price of norkage comes with the penalty of having to sit through an Eli Roth movie
  15. If only I could 'like' this more than once etc... **** James Bond
  16. Hmmmm. For me this is way better than the first trailer. Maybe there's some hope for it after all.
  17. I was completely mesmerised by the whole thing. As someone who loves the technical aspect of film making along with the acting/story etc it's almost a perfect case study. Not sure if you've seen Herzog's Aguirre, the Wrath of God Mike (i'm going to assume you have) but there were a couple of scenes which reminded me very much of that.
  18. Nailed on I would imagine. I certainly hope so (even though I have a huge dislike of award ceremonies).
  19. Just got back from seeing The Revenant. What an absolutely incredible piece of cinema. Pretty much flawless in my opinion.
