11 22 63 has been enjoyable so far (3 eps in). Nice use of the 60's setting and has King's fingerprints all over certain elements of the story (particularly like the concept of the past 'pushing back').
Plus, I now have quite the thing for the lovely Sarah Gadon
Had to give up on The Flash. I just found the writing repetitive and most of the characters annoyingly wafer thin.
I can't see me sticking with Arrow for much longer either - s4 has been patchy at best.
I think Marvel's TV output has spoiled me tbh (I appreciate their tone is supposed to be different ofc).
I've seen plenty of criticism but actually not too much about it being female lead. Most of it seems to be that the choice of cast and director is wrong and that the humour and warmth of the original will be lost. Plus of course there will always be people who don't want the memory of a stone cold classic sullied.
Having seen the trailer I can see where they are coming from tbh.
Horror movies of that ilk are often divisive regarding how scary they are perceived to be.
For me, horror is done best when it's less about the obvious and more about the unseen.
I think The Witch did that fantastically well and I found it incredibly unsettling.
All of your criticisms basically. I thought it was an almost flawless horror movie in every way and as CED says, it stayed with me for days after. The tension created was almost palpable and it was masterfully shot and scored.
Basically, I loved the **** out of it.
One of the best films i've seen for a while.
Excellent drama from Korea centred on the relationship between a policewoman and a 14 year old girl (the excellent Kim Sae Ron) who she befriends and tries to protect from her abusive stepfather.
Well worth a watch
--EDIT-- Kim Sae Ron also starred in The Man from Nowhere which I believe I recommended a while ago on here. It's kind of like a Bourne / Leon hybrid and is well worth checking out
Oddly enough Stew, you were the first person I thought about when I saw the news. I know you and your sister were huge fans.
Like you say, a sad day for music and pop culture.
It can always get worse mate.
You should know that being a Villa fan
Let's hope whoever takes over has a clue. It would make a nice change to act like a football club again.
