I watched it again at the back end of last year, I tend to watch the whole Apartment trilogy over a couple of days from time to time.
I don't think any of it's original power has diminished tbh. In fact iirc it's original reviews on release were good, but it's only over the years that it's been re-evaluated and elevated to classic status.
I think it's bloody brilliant tbh and the 'this is no dream! this is really happening!' line is one of my favourites of all time.
Seriously though. It's a **** masterpiece.
The Apartment Trilogy are all very good movies, but RB is the standout amongst three very strong films. The direction, acting (particularly from Farrow who is astonishing) is all absolutely top notch and it has that wonderfully unsettling vibe (the little touches of off-beat humour are great) which just grows and grows until the brilliant finale.
A bona-fide classic in mine and indeed many others opinion.
This is my favourite game so far this year.
They just absolutely nail the balance between keeping the essence of the first two original Doom games and giving it a contemporary sheen.
Plus, the gunplay is just so satisfying and entertaining that I find myself laughing like a loon whilst wreaking havoc
Preacher is in no way, shape or form a 'superhero' story. Jesse is in no way shape or form a 'superhero'.
The story is one of the most subversive things i've ever read. If they keep the vibe of the comic series you will really enjoy it
What a waste.
Sounds as though there is virtually zero humour in it (apart from unintentional) which is utterly ridiculous as the Warcraft world has an abundance of clever comic touches along with some very dark storylines.
I'd hoped Jones might pull it out the bag but this is just going to go down as another one in the long line of turgid video games made into movies.
Hugely disappointed.
I haven't laughed so much at a movie for a long time. Absolutely brilliant stuff.
Made by the Horrible Histories team so you know the quality is going to be high, there's quite a bit of Monty Python influence in there too which is never a bad thing imo.
100 Bullets, Persopolis and Black Hole are all worth checking out.
Then some of the usual suspects like V for Vendetta, Watchmen, The Killing Joke and ofc The Dark Knight Returns.
Preacher is still my favourite of all time though. Re-read it again recently and it's just so wonderfully clever and subversive.
***EDIT*** Oh, and I haven't read it myself but Y: The Last Man is supposed to be excellent.
