What a terrific lot they were.
I saw them live at the very first Phoenix Festival - they had a ramp either side of the stage for the bass player and guitarist to run up and jump off in pretty much a continuous motion. It made for quite the energetic sight.

Needless to say the book had a very interesting impact on me at the time and although I know I didn't grasp many of the finer details I still remember not being able to put it down.

Plus, the fact that he's had several vocal phases down the years where he's sounded very different, so to dismiss all of his vocal work is a bit daft unless you've gone through the lot.
