I thought Annihilation was a very decent sci-fi.
Nothing groundbreaking, and certainly many elements that have been seen before, but it held my attention for the duration and was well acted (nice to see Portman give a good performance) and very well shot indeed with some great sequences in 'The Shimmer'.
I really, really liked the bit where:
All in all, not Garland's best work by a long way but not too shabby either.
Yep totally agree.
And Keaton made for one of the more interesting villains by adding a little bit of actual depth and colour to his Vulture. He was superb in it.
The Stranglers were on form last night. Excellent set list that included most of the classics.
Also a special mention for Therapy? who have been a favourite of mine for donkeys years. It's safe to say that they have gained a few new fans after putting on what was one of the best support shows I've ever seen (and I've seen a shit tonne).
I enjoyed it from the start tbh. I much prefer a slow build up before the pay off.
It does ramp up though so I'm sure you'll enjoy it a little bit more.
Terrific drama with an unusual take on the 'ghost' genre.
Have to say, Kristen Stewart has developed into a fine actor since the sparkly vampire movies. Here she's teamed up again with director Olivier Assayas who she previously made the excellent Clouds of Sils Maria with.

Second series of Jessica Jones has been very good so far (3 eps in).
Ritter inhabits that main role so well now and even though the cynicism is slightly wearing after a while she still manages to be appealing.
I'm expecting a little bit of bagginess at some point (13 eps is 3 too many usually) but so far so good.
It just didn't click with me Dem. It's a pity as the first couple of hours were enjoyable and i can see why its highly rated but that's just the way it goes sometimes.
Got a few the next week or so.
Satirycon on Sunday evening followed by Death from Above and At the Drive In on Monday.
Then off to see Therapy? Supporting some old band called The Stranglers or something next Saturday
