Nah, the good lady wife, both my sisters and a few female friends all absolutely love him.
The missus bought me Murder Ballads in the mid nineties as I’d mentioned to her that I loved Where the Wild Roses Grow. One listen to O’Malley’s Bar and the rest as they say is history.
I knew I’d married her for a reason
Off to see Half Man Half Biscuit (again) tonight at one of my favourite venues (The Robin 2).
Also got Amyl and the Sniffers, Sacred Reich, Dinosaur Pile Up and Torche lined up for the next month or so.
Strong end to the year indeed.
That's the first part of my double bill tonight. Terrific movie.
Then something I've never seen but I'm looking forward to immensely:
I'll have a think mate - there are soooooooo many though
I'm not too keen on first listen to be honest. It's a little too much on the glitchy side for my taste but I'll give it a few more goes before I make my mind up.
The best track so far is the one with Shabazz Palaces.
Have to say after the decent opening episode I found myself losing interest in this weeks. A few things for me:
1. I'm not engaged by any of the characters as I don't find any of them particularly likeable.
2. The references to anything related to the original Watchmen are painfully shoehorned in.
3. Jeremy Irons just doesn't come across well as Ozmandias. Apart from having a look of him, his characteristics are completely at odds with the Veidt from the graphic novel. The less said about that recreation of the Dr.Manhatten origin the better.
So yeah. Not a great episode and I do wonder if it's ever going to really be that good.
