Looks like a team who hasn't played or trained in awhile. Good half let's see if we can build on it.

ManU parking the bus versus a midfield CB pairing is so small time. I wonder how it will be discussed?

The last time Dean had a covid break to things over Villa came out very improved.
He has worked a couple new wrinkles while in quarantine.

Firmino is so wasteful
You wonder what Watkins could do leading that line.

Azpi is halfway off the ground which saves him from any real damage. Definite red all day. Can't leave your feet to lunge like that.

Fulham were looking good for at least a draw. That was a poor challenge by Robinson.

There's a lot of senior strikers wouldn't have scored that goal. I can see a clamour to have Barry on the bench sooner rather than later, given how light we are up top, and after tonight it's that bit harder to disagree.
He was cramping at the 50 minute mark. Definitely is not ready for the physical demands of the senior game, yet. Can't deny the talent though. That was a flawless run and finish.

Pressed and set up the low block just like the first team. Really pleased to see we finally have a style of play that is consistent from the 1st team all the way through the academy.

Did my man just do that in our own box. LOVE IT!!!

Klopp isn't letting on how much that 7-2 stung them. Comical, he still has them pressing.

April 10th, 2021 go ahead and circle that as a cup final.

It was a good move by United. He missed a header (not really missed, but couldn't get to it in time). It happens. There was still a lot for United to do before and after that header.
McGinn and Targett got played through like they weren't even there. Wan-Bissaka had all day to make a pin point accurate cross and that's exactly what he did.
Traore got blamed when he let Chilwell run free for Chelsea's goal. Where is the subsequent blame for Targett and AEG who aren't even in frame when Wan-Bissaka crosses to Martial? Not trying to scapegoat but moreso point out that conceded goals usually have multiple failures. Mings missed header is merely the last in a series of errors.

4-6 weeks is pretty standard for a hamstring. Nothing crazy about that recovery time. The only real issue is that he pulled it right before the most congested part of our schedule.
If anything we have proven that we can perform at a high level with or without Barkley. That will probably help loads at the negotiating table this summer.
-
Remember the last couple years where we never really sold anyone for profit. Well those days are over. Every player in our 11 could possibly be subject to a bid this summer. I mention this in the Cash thread because if I'm a champions league team he would be the first gettable player I'm looking at.
He is already good enough for a top ten team and he is only going to get better. Great scout by Smith and the front office.
-
Ready for him to go back out left. We lose to much of our goal threat when he picks up the ball 30-40 yards from goal.
He was great as always but his shots on goal have markedly dropped off since he started playing in the middle.

But there is a pattern ,where we concede so many headed goals. I.e Chelsea
do we not like heading the ball?
We allow teams to operate on the flanks. That's the cost of pushing our fullbacks so high up the pitch when we are on the attack. For me, you take the good with the bad. Our defensive strategy works more than not. No complaints there.
Our problem is the inability to score our chances. We do that and at worst we draw, more than likely we win.

no one has piled in, most people just state facts, in this case he came back and made an error that most believe directly cost us a goal today. But as soon as anyone criticises him as many people 'pile in' defending him. Be nice if there was a bit of balance but he's not being scape goated, this is a discussion forum all players get discussed if they have a negative or positive impact on a game.
not a fan of the brum mail but they hit the nail on the head below.
TYRONE MINGS - 5
Straight back into the side after serving his one-match ban and started well as he blocked and cleared United's attacks forward. Mings, though, was at fault for Martial's opener after failing to clear at the near post which allowed the Frenchman to score. Mings appeared to get his feet in a muddle which stopped him from getting any contact on the ball. Mings was fortunate to get in ahead of the recently-impressive Hause for this one. His mistake was costly. The England man rallied the troops until the end, though, as he always does. Missed a decent chance from Cash's late free-kick.
A player rating is literally an opinion no different than yours or mine. Clean sheet or goal conceded the pile on is the same here. My point remains their were numerous faults for that goal. To solely attribute that blame to Mings is as bad as that penalty decision for the 2nd ManU goal

That free kick on the edge of the box was an atrocity. Probably should've been yanked off the field right then!
Yeah that piece was so bad. I forgive him because he has put in quality before but he has to do better there.

Hilarious that everyone has piled in here when if you take one look at the replay Konsa let's Martial just stroll in front of him for a free header.
Should Mings have not taken that extra step and been out of position for the clearance...Yes.
Should Konsa have not allowed Martial to get goal side without even a bump or a shout...Yes.
Usually that is how goals get conceded. Mutliple defenders making mistakes. That's even before you look at how our midfield was so easily bypassed. Not to be rude but I feel like this level of blame on such a soft error is clear bias.

The boys gave everything tonight. So proud of them. Love this team. Disgrace of a ref. The less I say about him the better.

Didn't even ask the ref to look at it. How?

Others have mentioned it. Back to the 4-3-3. Jack out wide left and Ramsey to shore up the midfield. Don't need 2 ineffective wingers out there. Rather drop to just one.

Ref can do one just like Deano told him about 5 times. Absolutely awful officiating.
The rule is you can't gain an advantage from an offside position. How is dispossessing a player from an offside position not gaining an advantage.
Absolutely ruined my day what an awful decision.
