so how bad can achilles injuries be??
18 months if he actually tore it. Just can't see it though. At his age and weight to do his achilles would be the freak of all injuries.

Is it?
Why? If they can’t earn their place when they have played well and others have played badly or get suspended or injured, how else are they meant to stake their claim for a place in the team?
Yellow cards are a natural part of the game, especially when on defense. Taking fouls to break up play can result in yellows through no fault of your own. Or you get injured, once again, through no fault of your own.
Losing a place to poor performance is completely different and a poor performing player over a stretch of time should be replaced. That is not the case with either Mings or Mcginn.
You stake your place to the team in training. That's where the manager sees you for multiple hours every day. Performance during the game is only PART of any selection equation.
Fans only see the later so we tend to over emphasis game performance.

I agree but that doesn't apply in this case. Mings and Mcginn have not been so bad that they deserve to be dropped. Moaning that hause and nakamba earned their place over others because they played well for a game or two is wrong IMO.
Absolutely, Mcginn/Mings play well for 15 games then lose their place through no fault of their own. It sounds silly just typing it out. A decision like that would be very short sighted and reactionary. Two traits you never want in a manager.

If you think this is bad it's nothing to what the likes of Man Utd players have to deal with.
Harry Maguire is easily making 5x what Mings is bringing. That probably helps soothe any abuse, by a lot.

Youngest team in the prem just got taught a very valuable lesson by some middle aged cloggers from Burnley. Dean should be able to gather a couple lessons from this match.

The worst part is I can't go back and enjoy that first half performance now.

Oh man Sheffield had acres of space in United's box. They were just passing it around. That's crazy.

Seen some on twitter blaming him for not cutting out the second
He's marking the man. He's supposed to cover the back post as well. Also, for the third goal are we really suggesting Mings is supposed to let a free runner ghost towards the goal.
Great cross and an even better header by Wood. Sometimes it happens. As other have mentioned Konsa is in no man's land. Poor all around on the defense but you can't pin this on any one player.
You swear people just look for the closes defender to the goal scorer and blame that person unless Mings is on the pitch then 100% Mings
.
Most goals conceded are a team effort, a litany of little errors all in a row. Goals 1 and 3 are clear examples of that.

Please please please Dean stop the zonal marking
Something has to change there. It was comical how easy that first goal was for Burnley.

Who was knackered for their third goal then? Cash didn't cut out the cross but, more importantly, Mings passed Wood onto Targett who had an aerial disadvantage. Mings should have stuck with Wood and then he probably doesn't score.
If Mings doesn't pass Woods on then Vydra is unmarked in front of goal. Mings doesn't have telepathy to know where the cross is going.
If anything Emi needs to get across to make the save. I feel like he got caught flat footed. Header wasn't moving fast at all.

If he'd have passed it, it still would have been. He tried to go for glory both times when Watkins was better placed (and equipped) to finish it. Sigh.
Hate being negative about that run but if he is going to take the shot it needs to be of better quality than that. Struck it right at Pope.
You can see the difference there between a great player, Jack, and a world class one, Messi or Ronaldo. They can all make the run but Jack isnt the level yet where he can score the chance as well.

They scored 5 goals in their first 8 home games and they scored 3 in 29 minutes tonight whilst being considerably outclassed, freak result.
xG has to be almost 4. Even conceding 3 we should have easily won.

So its a guarantee us making subs stops that? This is the Laughable thing about the same people moaning about them. Its like FM/Fifa syndrome. It works on there so it must always work in real life.
We missed endless chances. That's cost us the game. Not subs.
4-0 at the half easy. Burnley did the same to us last season. Can't let them hang around.

Game should have been out of sight in the first half. The players lost this. You have to advantage of chances of that quality.

Shit defending and not taking chances cost us. Anybody that knows anything about football would know that.
People complaining about subs must have missed the first half. How would subbing attackers fix the fact our defense let in 3 very soft goals.

I'm sick, straight up not even mad just disappointed. Why them!

Love Luiz but he made the same error in the West Ham game defending from a corner. His job there is to block the man off and not let him get a clear run at goal but he manages to find himself ball watching and make it so easy.
Konsa got blocked off, Douglas in no man's land and Barkley doing f*ck all. What an abomination
-
Two men unmarked at the back post. That can't happen.

Why oh why is Traore on set pieces. Has he ever beat the first man from any cross or hit the target with any free kick?
So frustrating.
Other than that, what a performance from the whole team. Need to get a 2nd tho.
Pretty sure he already has 2 assist, both from dead balls.

Nailed on draw
I have a parley right now with us drawing. With Barkley not at his best I don't see how we break them down.

Newcastle don't look bad from an effort perspective. Quality wise they are way off.

They really tried to tell fans who have been following the game for decades that WE don't know how the offside law works. Still steaming!
