Still haven't fully forgiven smith for starting that winger combo. Call it hindsight but it was a very obvious miss. That's why I'm not to worried. We get Bertie and Bailey on and most teams won't be able to deal. 

How are people still worried about the LW after watching Bailey yesterday.  His backup managed 10 goals last season in league play. Position looks sorted just fine.

Currently I'm not convinced tbh. I'd play him as a RWF. The position that is natural to him and he is familiar with.

Dean switched him to RWF 20 minutes into the Watford game and he looked no better. He's not fit as many on here have stated. Gonna have to give it a couple games, we are pretty much incorporating a whole new attacking front line.

He can play as a CAM in a 3 man midfield or in front of a 2 man midfield. 

The double pivot can work we just had Nakamba out there with nothing to do because we had all the possession. Can't make snap judgements after one game especially when multiple first team players weren't available for selection.

Sometimes it takes players a bit of time to find their legs in the PL. We always talk about it on here but seem to forget immediately once one of our own players has one shit game.

Are we Norwich?  You literally have a 100+ post banging on about moving Douglas Luiz away from his favored position as a 6 yet you 100% can't consider a positional switch for Buendia because Norwich fans said it didn't work. Sounds like Bertrand Traore MK2 . 

I could care less that an often relegated premier league door mat couldn't get him to work as a CAM. It's obvious our coaching staff envision him as a CAM going forward. It's gives us the most oppurtunities to get all our attacking options on the pitch at the same time. Have some faith that Dean and the staff can work it out. 

Benrhama just had 10/10 performance playing as a CAM for West Ham. If he can do it why can't Buendia. Playing him in the right puts one of our best attacking wingers (Traore) on the bench. We obviously need to give him time but our best way forward is to get Buendia in the middle. 

Benrhama playing very well in the middle of 3 behind Antonio. Playing the exact role we need Buendia to play for us.

Who?  Sanson is one option but he didn't even make the bench. 

Hopefully that was a one off. Didn't do much wrong defensively but he had some real poor touches when it mattered. Also, some of his overlapping runs were rather clueless. Definitely still a FB in progress.

He's not ready

Villa have had one of the highest net spends in the PL. I'm pretty sure we are Top 20 for all of Europe since we have  come back up and that's with factoring in the Jack transfer. 

We can't just buy our way out of every issue in the squad. For what Ramsey offers us given his wages and transfer fee (£0) he is a vital member of Villa's campaign.

He didn't look fit. Starting on the right wouldn't have solved that issue. Also, you can absolutely press from the center. Ollie does it every game. 

Converting Buendia to a CAM is huge for getting both Bailey and Traore on the pitch. It's a gamble, no doubt. If it works though it gives us one of the best attacking forces in the PL.

Really need him to figure out that CAM position because it's key to getting our full attacking force on the pitch. 

Class player, like always. Hopefully Buendia can figure out playing in the middle because Bailey, Buendia, and Bertrand will be absolutely deadly behind either Watkins or Ings. I even have a nickname for them. The Triple B's . 

Some are acting as if Nakamba has regressed. He's still the same guy from day one. Notice how Watford just let him have the ball. That's how little threat he offered. He is only good for games where we see very little of the ball. Otherwise please keep him away from the pitch. 

Looks like a left winger to me. Honestly he is just a baller. Get him on the pitch and give him the ball. I'm calling it now, he will be our Player of the Season. 

Truly awful. I'm usually pretty optimistic but man there is nothing positive to say about that performance. I lost count after the 4th time Sarr left him in the dust. 

I put this one only partially on Dean because there were some abysmal performances by some of our better players last year. 

Targett was a non-entity. I have never seen a FB get done that many times in one half. What made it worst was that once Young went to LB we didn't hear from Sarr for the rest of the game. 

Nakamba is the other with a 0/10 performance. Truly awful. Douglas please hurry back from vacation. 

Honorable mention to Matty Cash. How could a former RW have that many poor touches. I guess we see why Forest moved him to RB. 

On to the manager.  Dean starting with Young as a winger was poor. Maybe he didn't have a choice given the fitness concerns of our other wingers but that put us under the cosh from the get go. Hopefully Bailey and Traore are ready for next week because we can never do that starting lineup again. 

I hate piling on a player but he was that bad. He should never play in a game where we will have the majority of possession. It's crazy how he receives a pass then just stands there. Killed every attack we had in the first half.

Definitely some questionable moments.  Way to far from his mark for the first goal. 

On the bright side. He won a penalty today. Teammate failed to convert though. 

A literal zero. His midfield partner  has to do all the work once the ball is won.
