“Wants to play” Smith talked about it, and so has Gerrard. We played out from the back way more than we ever did before under smith. Can’t deny that. Doing that is going to see more mistakes being made.

Well we’re onto our 2nd manager that wants to play possession football, so we better get used to our CB’s making mistakes in possession.

I’m not saying he’s slapping the ball about like paul scholes but his distribution is better than the others we have in defence and the stats show that. You watch the games, when Korts came in for him, you could see the vast difference in the 2.

I think some can be too harsh on him too. We used to hoof the ball up the field or play it to Clark who would then loft it up, deano came in and wanted us to play out the back. we’ve had success with it, but there will also be mistakes… and when those mistakes happen they’re catastrophic because it’s the last man losing the ball. he’s our best CB on the ball by a mile and his distribution is also much better… only have to look at korts passing to see the options. He makes mistakes. But he’s being asked to do a lot, and his blocks, headers, clearances make up for the mistakes imo. there is an agenda against the guy by a lot of England fans; and it’s the case for some villa too, might be down to his swagger, some see as arrogance maybe, hence the chewing gum bull shit. people also seem to take offence at footballers having a voice and opinions that they aren’t afraid to share. i like the guy, wears his heart on his sleeve and fights for the club, he’s also a clear leader, you need someone vocal, not afraid to call others out.

The fact the lads were passing a note about as the opposition were about to take a corner was all I needed to see. That’s terrifying. I get they want the lads to learn routines, but let’s keep it simple to start shall we.

Makes me even more sad for deano that. Players must feel some responsibility too, you can see what a tight unit we were. Whatever will be willl be now and I’m happy with Gerrard, but I hope we take the togetherness through, it’s been years since we had it.

Feel like he should have been given more time, we know that team can play well. He was our leader for some of the best villa moments I’ve ever witnessed as a fan and I’ll love him for it forever. Feels ashame for it to end like this. Good luck deano.
