  1. Hope he gets back to fitness without any trouble.
  2. And with 3 more points they would all be top 10 players. Teams placed 7-10 are full of shit players. Most teams are shit and we should appreciate that.
  3. Emi’s form continues to worry me. His confidence when claiming crosses seems gone, these days he drops the ball two times out of three. Also lacks confidence when there’s a chance to make a quick throw, always ends up waiting at the edge of the box.
  4. Burnley had the higher xG, 1.63 to Villa’s 1.00. Theirs is helped by the pen, but 1.00 for Villa still isn’t great.
  5. I’m not happy when he tries no-look backheels in our own half.
  6. Villa have been okay but had trouble creating real chances. Stupid challenge from Buendia - he’s a risk taker and that’s why he should play way up the pitch, far away from Villa’s goal.
  7. Kamara called up for France for the first time. I suppose that won’t make signing him any easier.
  8. I expect a minimum of two new players in the first XI (CB+DM). Probably one more, at most two more (CM+another CB).
  9. Will be interesting to see how the clubs likely competing for 7th place do in this window. West Ham, Leicester, Newcastle and maybe Wolves. If Villa can strengthen more than they do we could advance. The six big clubs will most likely keep making signings out of our reach and widen the gap.
  10. He didn’t say that though did he? And if he had sad so it would be worrying, we aren’t going to replace that many.
  11. Back when Purslow was in charge? Speaking of Purslow, I only recently understood how big a fan of Liverpool he is. Grew up on the Wirral in a family who've been Liverpool fans since forever, and is a long-time season ticket holder. I listened to a podcast from 2018 where Purslow described himself as a "fanatical and passionate Liverpool fan" and also said that he "never in a million years" would have accepted the job as managing director for them if he hadn't been such a big fan. No wonder he's fond of Gerrard.
  12. One prediction before the summer is that Villa like to make deals early, so two weeks from now the key signings could possibly already be announced.
  13. It's difficult to judge Burnley players, you could theoretically be a great ball player but if Dyche tells you not to play short passes what do you do? Most sequences with Burnley in possession start with Pope making a long goal kick for everyone to chase.
  14. Wasn't Bogarde really impressive in pre-season last summer, playing for the first team? I was kind of expecting him to work his way into the team during this season but I suppose the injury has derailed things. And just to stay on topic, I'm sure Feeney is great too
  15. The asshole rant was a consequence of being subbed though. https://lookcharms.com/luis-suarez-furious-with-diego-simeone/
  16. I’d be happy with those positions filled and they would be pretty good picks too.
  17. Rangers fans seem to believe all their players are worth at least 40m. Quite the opposite of Villa fans, who generally believe our own players are worthless and would drive them anywhere as long as someone pays for the petrol.
  18. Was just about to write this must be the weakest Europa League final ever, then I looked back and found finals between Shakhtar-Werder Bremen and Sevilla-Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
  19. Managers who have shown they can improve players obviously have enormous pull. Legendary ex-players will make people curious about what they can contribute, but unless early signs are promising that pull goes away quickly.
  20. Imagine if he suggested things weren’t going well though. Like a used car salesman saying all his cars are shite.
  21. Not sure an injury can keep us from signing him. Could possibly be an argument to lower the fee to 30m if we’re lucky.
  22. The main difference between our squad and the squads of Liverpool or Man City isn’t age, it’s general quality. (Burnley have the oldest squad btw, lots of experience there)
  23. Being seen as decent could theoretically be good for business if more people and companies want to be associated with the club. Going the other way could be risky, esp in issues regarding racism and similar. I don’t believe missing out on Suarez would hurt Villa at all (it would probably be a win-win even from a strict football point of view).
  24. There will be limits to what he can demand though, both in terms of available funds and those players willingness to sign.
