Lost count of how many times I said I was very happy to see Smith leave, and equally sceptic about SG replacing him. Villa under NSWE have a manager deficit. Money is spent on everything except brains. Yesterday everyone were ecstatic about the assistant replacement for Beale. Great, but we still don’t have an experienced manager with merits from one of the big leagues. If Villa keep spending, this will be the remaining problem. We’ll never challenge the top 4 without a coherent idea.

This sounds reasonable but remember, we have Leon Bailey in our squad.

There will most likely be an offer for Luiz from Roma and I’d be surprised if Villa don’t accept. The player seems keen to go, and he’s been a good servant mostly in a position he doesn’t enjoy playing.

This recruitment could be difficult. If it’s true Beale was responsible for everything from daily coaching and developing the team’s style to tactics and gameplans, we need to hire someone who more or less is a head coach. But that person won’t get the title or money that goes with such an important position. Instead the new person will be expected to stand in the background.

I can see why West Ham let him go. Except for that wonder goal against us he hasn’t done much.

Anything could happen to the football now with the main tactician gone. We’ll have to wait and see who SG hires as Beale’s replacement, and what football philosophy that person brings with him.

If we could get Bale with the motivation he has for playing with Wales, it would be absolutely amazing. Always world class for them. But for us, I doubt he’d even show up for training.

Ideally I'd like a really good backup, somewhere around 21-28 years old, to challenge Martinez.

Brentford showed the importance of a good backup keeper this season. When Raya got a long term injury it quickly became clear their nr 2 was nowhere near good enough, and they tried loans and things while falling down the table. Eriksen was obviously the biggest factor for turning their season around but Raya returning was huge too.

Richarlison is a quality player, good technique and hard working. He’s been rumoured to clubs such as PSG and the like previously for 70-80m so would probably cost a lot. Trying to see how Watkins and Richarlison could play together. Would probably take another season for them to get to know each others style though.

If we finished half of our chances we’d win the league, but the same goes for every PL team. Villa score about as many goals as expected compared to the number of chances. Villa don’t create an enormous amount of chances, we’re very much midtable in that respect.

Considering the excitement when Ings was signed, doesn't fans in general have too high expectations about other clubs' players? If/when Villa sign a 20+ goal striker from Bundesliga or Ligue 1 the excitement will again be huge, only to fade when said striker scores 7-8 goals in his first Prem season.

That sounds like a good idea, but I doubt it will happen. Surely Gerrard will want to be the main man. And how many top coaches are willing to do a job like that without getting the credit?

If it's no big deal Beale leaves since Villa were so poor this season, couldn't the exact same thing be said about Gerrard?
