  1. Cornet was one of their cheaper and less glamorous signings this summer, and so far looks like the best one.
  2. Funny how West Ham have turned out. After two season challenging for Europe and being praised by everyone, they kept all their best players, added some expensive signings and became shite.
  3. Those 4 points from City and Southampton means he’s safe until the World Cup.
  4. Juventus CEO just said they have involved Allegri in ”a four year project” so sacking him now would be ”insane”. I interpret this as he’ll be sacked in the morning. European top clubs in trouble could lead to Allegri, Inzaghi and Nagelsmann being available soon.
  5. After the latest niggle, it looks like he’ll have another operation. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/sep/17/kalvin-phillips-ruled-out-of-england-squad-for-nations-league-with-injury ”Kalvin Phillips will miss England’s Nations League games against Italy and Germany after suffering a reoccurrence of a shoulder problem,”
  6. Update: after yesterday, things still look bad for Rodgers and possibly Cooper. Add Nagelsmann to the mix after another Bayern disaster.
  7. This Leicester team also shows how important the goalkeeper is. Ward is by far the worst in the league, any team would struggle with him playing.
  8. Just wait until Leicester appoint Kjetil Knutsen.
  9. So much fun to read Spurs fans reactions. They were ecstatic when Conte first came, a world class manager! Results picked up, give him whatever he wants! Then after a year when he’s turned them into a typical Conte side, very defensive, they’ve had enough: ”get this fraud out!”
  10. He played 60 mins against Blackburn and was very good apparently. https://theathletic.com/3592410/2022/09/16/keinan-davis-watford-villa/?source=user_shared_article
  11. The problem is that Steven is purely hoping for fluidity and ”nice things”, as he hasn’t a single idea of how to make it happen. He’s praying the team will somehow begin to play better, totally unrelated to him and his staff.
  12. After the players, maybe time to also send the manager on loan to you-know-where
  13. Everytime he gets the ball out wide I hope he will try to use his pace — but it never happens. Invariably, he will slow down to a stand-still and wait until he’s surrounded by three or four opponents. Then tries to dribble. He’s like a Saint-Maximin caught in quicksand.
  14. Seems like Villa fans weren’t alone in thinking it was a poor match overall. Some quotes from the BBC report: ”Villa made nearly all the running in a game desperately short on quality … It was, to be brutally honest, a dreadful game lacking in quality, but Gerrard will not care as Villa will take wins any way they can get them at the moment after a poor start to the season … The winning goal from Ramsey was scrappy, totally befitting such a poor game … It was not pleasing on the eye but Villa fully merited the win https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62845794
  15. The days are gone when the manager’s job was to select 11 players and just hope for the best. Football has developed so much this last decade, but you wouldn’t know by looking at this game. Our players have been okay I suppose, most of them anyway.
  16. With an international break coming up, expect a couple of sackings this weekend. Unless Leicester beat Spurs, Rodgers is in trouble. The greek could sack Cooper as well if Forest lose.
  17. PR is important, but one must have a long term view. Being criticized for a week isn't a problem if it improves things in the long run. If the club gets a reputation for sacking managers every other month like Watford, that's a PR problem. Villa wouldn't be anywhere near that even if Gerrard had been sacked last week.
  18. Really? IMO Foden is one of very few who looks good wherever he plays, because of his stellar technique.
