  1. Good for them. He’s not even portuguese!
  2. Julien Lopetegui now available after being sacked by Sevilla.
  3. At least Watkins is a better finisher than Darwin Nunez.
  4. Not all scousers love Rafa. I agree it could be good for us if Forest appointed Benitez now. He's one of very few candidates who wouldn't create any kind of new manager bounce.
  5. It’s in line with the new strategy I suppose, no pretty stuff. Focus on long balls for the striker to chase and pumping crosses into the box. Build-up is so 2021.
  6. Since Chambers was signed in the Gerrard era I just assumed he liked him.
  7. It’s rare for pretty football to suddenly come without work being done on the training pitch. Depends on what you consider pretty of course, but if it’s slower possession based football like Man City, or quick attacking football like Liverpool of last season, there are hundreds or thousands of hours of coaching behind it. Positioning drills where the pitch is divided into smaller squares and players learn to make themselves available in the best way, rehearsing pressing traps, various patterns in and out of possession and so on. The game today is faster than ever and if a manager basically sends the players out to improvise, the result will be poor.
  8. I’m not throwing anyone in, just listing the major football appointments made under Purslow.
  9. At least we’re a more expensive mess now.
  10. Smith, Suso, Lange, Gerrard… For a club with European ambitions, those names aren’t that impressive (although Smith did a decent job).
  11. 100% agree. It’s obvious why he doesn’t play youth - he believes the older players are more reliable and more likely to bring him points in the very short perspective. All managers need to show quick results so it’s understandable, but there has to be some professional pride in also doing what’s best for the club in the long run. SG clearly doesn’t give a shit about any of this.
  12. He was aiming for Konsa, wasn’t the same routine.
  13. Het ligt aan mij (dutch for ”it’s on me”)
  14. If we don’t win next week, we’ll be in the bottom 3 by the World Cup break. Forest is the last easy game.
  15. Would be strange if they didn’t at least speak with Tuchel and Poch. Some others who could be approached are Amorim, Lopetegui, Emery, Fonseca, Favre. Rodgers probably the most likely candidate when or if the day comes. But I’m afraid we’re still far away from that discussion.
  16. Playing out from the back (the ”pretty stuff”) was apparently scrapped a few weeks ago, when we got points from hoofing and sitting deep. So much for Gerrard’s philosophy. As you say, our squad is not suited to this way of playing either. If we’re going to play like old Wimbledon or Burnley, we need some tall and strong thugs to do it. Playing hoofball and trying to win headers with a team including Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey and Dougie is **** laughable.
  17. No doubt SG is overpaid (if he was paid in relation to competence he wouldn’t earn much). But I don’t think his salary stands out in the league, 5m is a mid table salary these days. Hasenhuttl and Rodgers are the real winners, plus Bielsa while he was here.
  18. That’s a bit harsh on Cooper. He may not have managed in a top league before but has at least done an excellent job with Forest last season and with the England youth before. I’d prefer someone with experience from one of the big leagues, but would be happy with Cooper as well. He’s miles ahead of Gerrard.
  19. Quite the opposite, pink unicorn sheets will send the message loud and clear. Even the kids want him gone.
  20. Zidane? Surely Pochettino is considered enough of a star as manager.
  21. I believe some underestimate the committment the board and Purslow in particular has made with Gerrard. When SG was appointed it was with the vision of him taking the team forward come hell or high water, and even if it takes a very long time. My guess is SG stays at least until the end if the season. If the club is in a real relegation fight later on the owners might get nervous, but as long as we’re not bottom 3 by March he’ll most likely stay.
  22. Better than the Southampton game, still far from great.
  23. Not loving the line-up but with injuries maybe it doesn’t get much better. Tough game.
  24. Pochettino and his family already live in the UK.
