Sanson is supposedly on 48k per week, how much of that would Villa pay? How many years does he have left?
Loaning players out and still paying all or parts of their wages is so shit.
Too late to sell, the cut-off for transfer fees is pretty sharp around 29 years. Digne, Coutinho, Carlos are all transfers where Villa will be the last club to pay more than pennies. I hope Digne can improve instead, and be of use at least for another year or two.
In a 4231 Kamara, Luiz and Donk would be the obvious candidates for the double pivot. McGinn (who I still believe can add something if he gets some form back) isn’t good as a holding midfielder and I don’t see Sanson’s strength there either.
He’ll have some pretty difficult games to begin with. Next 5 are Newcastle, Man U, Brighton, Liverpool and Spurs. If he can create some sort of new manager bounce there — give him the keys to the city.
Very much a new era if it goes through. We have brought in some good players under NSWE but manager wise settled for small fish until now (sorry Deano).
He wouldn't make Villa sit deep against Forest. Or have a very attacking setup against Man City. It's all about adapting to the game, he's good at that.
