When people wanted to have Buendia play as an 8 my concern was just that, his huge risk taking, all the time. You don’t want that close to your own goal. The problem recently is that he doesn’t add as much going forward either.

Maybe a back-up keeper?

The idea of serviceable squad players is nice, but sometime it feels like all we have are squad players. And the real first XI doesn’t exist.

Ideally you want players who aren’t afraid of doing something with the ball, but still are too proud to deliver hopeless shots into the stands.

Jaden Philogene would have been nice to have right now, speaking of wingers.

Ratings & Reactions: FAC3: Villa v Stevenage

Getting rid would probably have to be arranged as some kind of huge accident, for insurance reasons. Don’t think selling is an option for more than one or two at most.- 607 replies

Villa spent 85 minutes of that game standing still with the ball 5 yards over the halfway line. The remaining 5 mins consisted of shots from distance ending up in the stands.- 607 replies

Every transfer rumour I’ve seen concerning Villa this window has been about 29-30 year olds. Gerrard’s push for ”proven winners” lives on it seems? Keep signing players mostly that age and we’ll have to replace the whole squad in one season. That’s the opposite of good squad management.

Does Dallie possess Watkins finishing composure and Ings physicality?

It’s the new thing this season. Watch PL games where the home team is behind at half time. Boos in the stadium nearly every time.
-
Yeah, that’s all true. He did score that one header against Man City though so must have a huge conversion rate with headers.

We must learn to act like a big club, like 36m is nothing to us. That’s the only way to earn respect on the street.

Who do you think is out the door in January?
VillaParkAvenue replied to maqroll's topic in Villa Talk
The thing is that it’s difficult to get players out the door, unless they’re very successful and want to leave. Take Sanson for example, he won’t leave unless someone pays what he earns here which is very unlikely. We have others like him. -

Really? If that’s the yardstick then none of our players are good enough. Which may be true of course. -
To say something positive, for a record signing he wasn’t all that expensive. £36m wasn’t it? If Arsenal bought him last summer they would have dropped him a long time ago, along with Tomiyasu, Lokonga and Tavares.

Only saw the last 30 mins or so but it looked like Boubs had a rare off game tonight. He really freezes sometimes when he gets the ball in the final third (not his role so not a real problem).
-
Cash has really dropped off since last season, when he was one of our better players. Feels strange to think about it but he actually was.

Ings needs a partner up top, that’s how it’s been previously when he’s been successful (Saints, Burnley). Ideally a hard working, hard running type like Adams at Southampton (or Watkins).
-
It did work okay sometimes. There was a long period last season when we won most games they started together, and lost when they didn’t.
-
They might look more relevant after Ludwig’s next game.
-
Feel genuinely sorry for him. Still, his is one of the positions where we should try to upgrade.
-
Agreed, he’s been better lately.

Booing at halftime really is a new trend all over the league. Used to only happen if the home team was particularly awful and maybe 4-5 goals behind, now it happens regularly at halftime even when just one goal behind.
