29 may not be that old for a central defender, but for a full back with pace as main strength it’s quite old. The main thing is players become even more difficult to shift after 29/30, more so if they’re on PL wages.

Doesn’t bode well for Bellingham then? You forgot Haaland, De Bruyne, Son and others.
-
No Joao Felix then, if anyone was hoping. To Chelsea on loan apparently.

At least it feels better to lose with kids than with senior players.

Yeah it feels like the plan of getting academy players into the team has been scrapped. Thought about it yesterday, two years ago we would have played a lot of kids v Stevenage but now it was strictly older bench warmers. Maybe the club lost faith when the best youngster was sold.

Maybe let Philogene show his skills in a couple of league games, then we can sell him to Chelsea for 50m as being the new Saint-Maximin.

I’m afraid we’ll have to take Craig Butler’s attacks on the chin.

It's a questionable signing on paper. Not familliar with him but really hope he's a late bloomer.

4 Premier League goals last season, not bad for a full back. What’s this, am I the Cash defender now?

Also playing in much more possession oriented sides with Brighton and Chelsea, which makes a big difference.

Have you seen him play lately? Loses the ball more often than Buendia. I give him that his crossing is better obviously.

Cash scored 4 PL goals last season to Cucurella’s 1, so should be significantly more expensive.

They are about the same level and similar in many ways, very energetic in getting up and down but not much more than that.

People said that about Sanson until yesterday. Maybe Marv starts for us in a cup game next season.

Will this bloke get a four and a half year contract to June 2027?

Most of the players fans now want out had a period when they looked good. The only players who've been at Villa for a longer period of time and not got worse are Martinez and maybe Douglas Luiz.
-
Offer him £20k per week. One year deal. I'm sure he can rent Buendia's back shed.

It's a strange feeling really, on the one hand I'm happy Emery is here and hopeful he can improve things. On the other, my hopes and expectations for this transfer window (and the ones coming later) are close to zero.

Us having enough 29-year olds on high wages, I doubt it. Depay also has a streetwear line and a questionable attitude, what's not to like?

Not saying he's great or anything, he should be replaced eventually. But he did contribute with some energy and pace going forward which is now lost. He won't win any prices next season as the more reluctant Cash, that's for sure.
-
He's actually decent at it, which is why he was the supporters player of the season. As long as he doesn't try to cross or shoot from distance .
-
Cash has clearly been told not to push forward as much as he did under Gerrard. It's not his own decision.
-
Agree with this, sadly. Even Carlos position could be at risk going forward depending on how his rehabilitation goes.
