  1. He could maintain his chilled style by wearing sunglasses on the pitch.
  2. After he’d been here a couple of months nobody but Turkey would take him, that’s how it goes.
  3. The 70% only becomes a rule in a few years (90% until then) and only for teams competing in Europe, so we’re safe
  4. Love it if Ronaldo ever tries to return to a european club but can’t get a visa since he came from the saudi league.
  5. Most of the 160m is eaten up by the wage bill of course.
  6. Conte would probably publicly admit to being frustrated, but he doesn't count.
  7. Not signing anyone yesterday was probably the best possible outcome for Dyche. Instead of having to integrate some late panic buys, he can focus on creating a siege mentality in the squad. "OK lads, no-one is coming from outside to help us. We're going to have to do this shit ourselves. Who are with me?" et cetera
  8. Still don't understand the idea that if you're mid-table you might as well stop trying. How many weeks into a new season should a team really go for it? Isn't it highly likely Villa will be mid-table next season too?
  9. I'd like to know what Emery thinks of the window. It's possible he's fine with it and believes we should concentrate more on the summer. It's also possible he's disappointed and feels the club should have done more to get his targets.
  10. But Emery isn’t sporting director, he can make wishes but doesn’t do the practical work with transfers. He’s depending on others at the club.
  11. My theory is that the club tried to stop paying out such high salaries as we’ve done to new signings the last two windows. If we offered ”normal” wages and less sign-on fees etcetera, perhaps it was more difficult.
  12. If both League cup and FA cup winners finish outside the top 5, the team finishing 6th also gets no qualification.
  13. Doubt they would offer that much considering they have to match his current wages. Villa got fleeced with the 25m we payed.
  14. So Emery took a look at the current options and decided we'd be better off with Bert leading the line.
  15. Traore is usually injured for 6-7 weeks at a time. Normal hamstring.
  16. Then we would have some cover up front, so I'd be even more calm than now.
  17. And if Villa aren't successful, some other clubs will be. The amount of happiness in the world is constant.
  18. So the only alternatives are 1) a squad without any backup up front, or 2) sign a bunch of useless players on 5 year contracts?
  19. That’s why you use loans. Haven’t heard any good arguments against signing a forward on loan today.
  20. It's the one at Braga. https://breakingthelines.com/player-analysis/vitinha-bragas-portuguese-talisman-in-attack/
  21. Why would we loan out an important starter? Ask them if we can loan Bruno G to have as backup instead.
