  1. Everton showed how shit Leeds are and we didn’t beat them which makes us shit. But the game just before, we beat Everton who comfortably defeated Leeds which makes us great. I’m surprised people still want Sanson. But no matter what the line-up we have a good chance of getting three points. Saint-Maximin doesn’t worry me for some reason, just let him run, wave his arms and get lost down the corner flag as usual
  2. That’s probably right, but also means KKH must be considered still some way from playing for Villa. When he was recalled a lot of people talked about him as if we was close to challenging Cash already.
  3. Sounds good, was just starting to worry a little
  4. Before christmas this season Kesler-Hayden looked like the shining star among the loans. Now, it’s the opposite: success loan players everywhere but KKH is moved to the bench at MK Dons? Maybe that recall wasn’t so smart.
  5. Stop being so reasonable. The usual Villa accounts on Twitter declared Archer ready for Champions League and world domination a long time ago.
  6. Thinking about FFP, selling Watkins could make sense if Villa got +40m which would result in a profit. Selling Ings now, we probably would struggle to get more than 20-25 and Villa would have to book a loss.
  7. Marv would be more valuable if he was younger but 15m has been mentioned. https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-newcastle-set-sights-on-signing-aston-villa-star-nakamba-in-january/
  8. I just checked back on games this season where Doug or Marv played as nr 6. Was expecting Marv to have the better defensive numbers as most seem to prefer him in the holding position and Doug further up the pitch. Doug has played 13 games at DM and Marv 9. With Doug we’ve conceded 19 goals, 1.46 per game on average, five clean sheets. With Marv we conceded 16 goals, 1.78 per game, one clean sheet. (With Bissouma, we obviously wouldn’t have conceded at all)
  9. He can still improve defensively though. If you compare him to Gallagher, another young nr 8, Gallagher does a lot more work all over the pitch.
  10. That would be a real surprise. Tim has close to zero experience with men’s first team football and being a regular starter for Villa must be at least a couple of seasons away.
  11. Would he? His merits and skills are out of this world but I’d say it’s obvious age is finally taking its toll on Cavani, and the odds are against him suddenly improving again after 35.
  12. I actually don’t think Potter would take the Newcastle job. 99% of people in this industry are driven by money, but after listening to Potter in interviews over the years I believe he would say no due to moral issues.
  13. If we don’t mind paying a fortune I’m sure Lautaro Martinez would do well. Wonderful player to slot into our Conmebol group. He’s short too!
  14. My only real worry about Gerrard is his relation to Purslow. At most clubs the manager wants to invest and sign new players, while the board and ceo are more wary and tell the manager to work with the tools he has. There’s some sort of balance between those interests. At Villa now there’s the unusual situation where the ceo adores the manager, and wants to give him everything he can point at. If Gerrard’s playing system doesn’t work, he can just go to Purslow and ask for new players to fill it with. I hope, and actually believe, Gerrard is smart enough to see this. For his own reputation, it wouldn’t look good to spend a fortune and only deliver mediocre results (and the owners of Liverpool wouldn’t be impressed with that either).
  15. I’d definitely hope so, we’re at 27 points now so 35 is just 8 points away? Another target could be to get 56 points and improve on last season. We’d need another 29 with 16 games left, roughly 1.8 pts per game.
  16. Sounds like there’s going to be a real DM carousel in the summer. Tielemans expected to Liverpool, Neves to Arsenal, Bissouma to Villa or Man U, Rice to Chelsea and Phillips to West Ham. Meanwhile Mendes will bring a decent new portuguese DM to Wolves and Brighton will sign a brilliant one from Nantes or Reims for £3m.
  17. I always thought this celebration shit was stupid anyway so have no problem with Ollie there. A firm handshake between teammates before kick-off is enough.
  18. It’s a shame we don’t use wingers anymore so no real use for JPB. (Except maybe keeping him around until 2025 when Gerrard leaves and we go back to 4231)
  19. There’s been talk about PSG buying Richarlison and even higher prices than that mentioned. I like him but if Villa want to break the bank for a striker there are other options
  20. Yes but apart from that goal/nongoal I didn’t remember him being that involved. Checked the stats now and it said he had 40 touches and 16 completed passes (which sounds weirdly low though)
  21. White, Sanchez and Emerson are all questionable but Romero is actually top class and a huge improvement for Spurs. Only 23 but one of the best CBs in Europe, if only Villa could find one or two like him.
  22. But 8th is the ultimate failure, just outside even qualifying for the european farmer’s cup. Has to be top 7.
  23. Of those available, I guesd Chuk or maybe Young together with Coutinho as 10s tomorrow.
  24. Ramsey has started two games as one of the 10s, against Leicester and Liverpool. He was more or less invisible in those games and got subbed off. I love Ramsey but think it’s better for him as a young player to really get to know his best position. He’s developing like crazy now and some of his greatest strenghts are carrying the ball forward himself or through 1-2s with others. As a 10 or semi-winger he would probably do less of that.
  25. Ings has played in a duo most of his career so could easily do it again, if he has the right partner. Watkins is still fresh as a striker and has never played together with anyone on top, (except for a few poor games with Ings that is)
