  1. Lewandowski - 78 minutes per goal (against Bundesliga defenders though)
  2. Yeah maybe. I don’t think they’re close to having the strongest squad either, but the club is dysfunctional and the next manager whoever it is will probably struggle as well. Quite a few of the players would probably do well (better, at least) if they came to a normal club.
  3. It has been fun to watch Man U crumble but the constant discussions about why are getting old. It seems now it’s gone full circle and back to ”it’s the players” (always the preferred explanation for idiots and small children). What’s irritating is how difficult it seems for people to accept the simple fact that Man U now are the fifth or sixth best team in England and not nr 1. People can’t process that.
  4. You have a point but some have done well: De Bruyne, Son, Gundogan, Firmino. Aubameyang was pretty good for a while too
  5. Rashford apparently wants out and only has one year left on contract. Never been convinced of his finishing skills, but no doubt he’s a good player….
  6. Really? Had no idea, but Watkins also looks like a very very fit player.
  7. People seem to think Suarez is still the same player as ten or even five years ago. He was still very good last season, but this season he doesn’t move like he used to and that’s why he’s had a pretty poor year. Atletico don’t want to give him another year, yet people think he will do great next season? All players eventually get old. Time doesn’t stop just because someone has left England, so we can’t watch them age before our eyes.
  8. Of all our players, Cash is obviously the fittest. He can sprint up and down for 90 minutes and still be happy if there’s a 15+15 extended time. He also always plays very much with his heart on the sleeve. Passion, what you want to call it, he has it. When Villa were in that awful five game losing streak and every player looked like they wanted to disappear, Cash was the only one to still keep running and trying every minute.
  9. He was far from being a flop at Bayern. The demands at that club are always absurdly high and he wasn’t brilliant enough to make Bayern want to buy him, but looking back at his time there he was pretty damn good a lot of the time. Barcelona is another and sadder story.
  10. This is exactly it. When we, under Gerrard, have focused on having a tight shape and let the other team have most of the ball, we’ve done well. Or yesterday, incredibly well. We have quality. When we’ve played lesser teams and Gerrard has felt the need to dominate possession, we’ve been very vulnerable in transitions and also incapable of breaking down teams that park the bus. Another PL team in the same situation currently are Spurs.
  11. Yesterday was a great team effort so feels stupid to complain about individuals, but McGinn was a lot less impressive than against Brighton. Not even close to the same energy.
  12. Chambers won’t play DM, forget that. He’s not that impressive when it comes to pure defending, but very comfortable on the ball which is a huge plus if we ever want to be able to control games. Mings is decent on the ball himself and him and Chambers together look like a pretty good CB pairing. Maybe not for games where Villa expect to be under constant attack though.
  13. Gerrard said he had sat down with Watkins and Ings for a talk before the Brighton game because he wanted to be able to play them both.
  14. Loved it when Broja was throwing a fit close to the end and even tried to push the big man. Ty barely flinched.
  15. Been so bad lately that today Potter benched him and didn’t let him play a single minute. Harsh but maybe correct.
  16. We had 38 percent possession. Once again, we look so much better when we sit back and hit on the break.
  17. Pukki imo is such an underrated forward, I have a feeling he could almost be a star if he didn’t play for Norwich and Finland. Not saying we should buy him or anything (but theoretically, if we did it would probably be incredible value for money).
  18. This is very much the case, I think, Villa fans feeling embarrassed. A comforting thought may be that Coutinho lived through playing for an absolutely awful Barcelona these last couple of seasons.
  19. In other news, the twitter user TotalVilla has quoted some egyptian manager who claims Nakamba is at least as good as Ndidi or Partey.
  20. Speaking of Bissouma (as always), wasn’t it weird how Purslow talked about him after the Brighton game? About Bissouma being worth no more than 10m and how McGinn had him in his pocket etc. If Villa still plan to sign him this summer, it’s feels unusual for a ceo to talk like that before a deal.
  21. The sad thing about Chelsea relying on ”loans” from Roman is that it paints a bleak picture for other aspiring clubs. Decent size fanbase, the most successful and profitable academy in England, playing in CL almost every season and sometimes winning - still there’s a hole in the finances almost every year.
  22. Writing off a 1.5 billion loan is a pretty big gift from the owner. What does FFP say about that?
  23. He came off the bench for five or six games straight when Gerrard was new. Then it stopped happening.
  24. Signing North Koreans sounds risky, bench them for a couple of games and Kim goes nuclear.
