  1. Looks like Neves will miss this due to injury, which should make them at least 30 percent worse. Remains to be seen if that is enough but their game against Leeds was promising. Jesus what a disaster.
  2. That is if you look only within the Prem. A midtable club in England can sometimes buy a Champions League player from France or Germany, sometimes from Italy or Spain as well.
  3. Everton fans weren’t happy to lose Digne, much the opposite. Rafa was happy.
  4. Yeah, difficult to sell him now but should be possible after a loan.
  5. Not the whole time, he spent some games on the bench under Smith as well. He attacked some water bottles at the Emirates in October when Smith wouldn’t give him minutes.
  6. Exactly. The idea that by signing from within the league you guarantee players click right away is wrong. By limiting us to Prem players we will always pay way too much, not to mention how much more difficult it is to attract players who are already in this league. If we go after Phillips with Bissouma as the second option, it’s very likely we’ll have to endure months of reporting about various bids followed by us signing no-one. Much like those embarrassing chases after JWP and Smith Rowe.
  7. And Lampard’s man management skills are questioned again after accusing players of not having bollocks. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/mar/20/frank-lampard-accuses-everton-players-of-lacking-bollocks-after-fa-cup-loss This is good too: Frank explaining how Everton lost by conceding a bunch of average fluke goals.
  8. I was reading articles from the 80s recently, they kept mentioning ”the big five”. Man City weren’t part of that group, nor were Chelsea. But Everton were!
  9. Maybe off topic but what’s the point of this ”top 8” people now talk about? Would we be happy today if we were 8th instead of 9th? There is still six big clubs and the ling term goal is to break into that group isn’t it?
  10. I’m happy as long as Arsenal continue with Ramsdale. He ensures they’ll never challenge for the title.
  11. He was bad yesterday but looking at pass completion for strikers is pointless, their job isn’t to make passes but to receive them. Strikers often have 50-70 percent for the few passes they attempt.
  12. Speaking of midfielders I’m still jealous of Newcastle for signing Bruno G. Might as well get used to that feeling I suppose.
  13. That’s what Lampard has been criticized for, blaming the players. One would hope Gerrard is smarter.
  14. Bailey has taken a few free kicks at Villa.
  15. Scenes when we’ve signed Phillips and still finish 10th. But seriously, if we spend 60m plus 40m in wages over four seasons, the least we can demand is that he changes his hair.
  16. Another problem is most of our wide players prefer the right…
  17. Tbf this has been a trend for some time, many teams in the Prem play systems where fullbacks or wingbacks are supposed to provide most of the width while forwards are more narrow. Traditional wingers running along the touchline to make crosses are somewhat out of fashion, or replaced by fullbacks. There are negatives with it as well and following trends doesn’t make you a visionary.
  18. This is exactly it. Being 9th we’re not far from top 8, and clubs just above us like Wolves and West Ham don’t have more great players than we have. They also have loads of average players but are probably slightly better coached. Another thing is that being top 8 doesn’t get you anywhere, so we have to improve a bit more.
  19. We were awful for the most part after christmas last season. Far, far worse than today.
  20. I’ve never seen that shine personally. He often puts a foot on the ball and has a look around, is that what people like? He should seriously demand to play with the U23s a couple of games and get a couple of goals.
  21. No we definitely don’t. Winning or losing is far better than drawing. It’s been like this since they started giving winners three points instead of two. This is basic math.
  22. You think they looked at our team today and were convinced to get him?
  23. If a team buys more than a few players for the regular starting XI during one summer, the next season is bound to be ”transitional”. Not enough time together in pre season plus some players will always need time to adjust. Big personnel changes this summer almost guarantees no top 6 finish until 2023/2024 at the earliest.
  24. I would be angry if he did. In fairness though, he hasn’t yet. But all that talk about ”experience” does sound like code for ”I want to do like Conte and sign a bunch of famous 35 year olds, because I’ll be off soon”.
