  1. Gerrard is the frontman for a huge new Hyundai campaign that’s supposed to run from now and through the World Cup. https://www.carmudi.com.ph/journal/watch-hyundai-launches-goal-of-the-century-campaign-with-steven-gerrard-bts/?amp=1
  2. If the media began to talk about Villa being in a relegation scrap, that would be bad news for trying to sign players in the summer. Win the next two and turn the spotlights somewhere else.
  3. Remains to be seen how much he was helped by Bielsa and that fitness regime. Very poor tonight but maybe to be expected after being away.
  4. Wasn’t the Leicester formation more 4-3-3 because of Bailey starting? He’s probably the least suited to playing centrally as a 10.
  5. Wouldn’t your first suggestion be a slight formation change as well, we don’t use two DMs now?
  6. I quite like Allan but don’t think he fits the physical requirements of a Villa DM. He’s nasty enough though, an evil little gnome.
  7. If Villa got a draw or even a win against Liverpool.... Just imagine how closely Sky's cameras would zoom in on Gerrard's facial expression at full time.
  8. I can easily see both Wolves and West Ham finish below 10th next season which leaves a couple of spots higher up for others. Midtable teams are unpredictable and those two don't have great squads.
  9. Everton fans seem to love him and often claim he’s the only one fighting for the badge. Obviously talented as well but still not sure I’d want him at Villa. IMO our players have enough knowledge of the dark arts already.
  10. Serie A probably have the highest number of potential title winners currently, with Juventus being relatively shit. Still it's difficult for the italian clubs to compete in Europe because they don't have the money. Tammy Abraham was the biggest signing in Serie A last summer for €40m, which I believe is about £34m.
  11. Watkins. Ings. Buendia Ramsey. Luiz. Sanson Coutinho on the bench. Carney and Tim on at 60 mins.
  12. You don’t think any of our current players are good enough for a team challenging for 6-7th place? That’s a really depressing thought imo, but maybe I misunderstood.
  13. If the saudis get impatient and demand some glamour signings for their vanity project, they might try for some superstars. But if Howe has his way, I doubt it.
  14. Despite the diving Gordon has been brilliant. Constant threat when he gets the ball.
  15. If they continue recruiting the same way as in January, they’re more likely to sign Doucoure, Walker-Peters and Sanson.
  16. Liverpool’s quadruple dreams destroyed by a time wasting Everton sounds wonderful to me. Everton or Leeds will go down anyway.
  17. The time wasting is almost like watching Emi Martinez on his most evil day.
  18. Burnley’s case is a little different as they don’t have a new permanent solution. Instead of new manager bounce it’s a no manager bounce.
  19. So we will play two games against a Burnley fighting for their lives. They also look a lot better in general post-Dyche.
  20. I agree Frank has made Brentford a better team, he is probably a better manager than Smith. But the transformation of Brentford we now see came with the addition of the non-physical Eriksen. Before him they looked set for relegation with an average 0.89 points per game. With him starting, they have 2.29 ppg. They started winning right away. Gerrard was surely hoping Coutinho would have the same effect on Villa, lifting the mood of everyone, which hasn’t really happened (although I think Coutinho has been largely brilliant).
  21. Much focus is on getting a new DM, but that won’t solve all our current issues in the defensive third. Watching Martinez, Konsa and Mings try playing out from the back feels very much like watching Bambi on ice. Konsa is worse than Mings at this, but Martinez isn’t great at it either tbf. If SG wants us to keep playing through the press those players need to improve.
  22. This would suggest we don’t get the best out of players due to subpar coaching and poor player development. Man U have been awful at those things for years. I wouldn’t say Villa have been nearly as bad, but things could definitely be better.
  23. I agree we need a good DM and possibly a CM too, ideally they would be very good with the ball under press. But the top teams have better players than us in all positions. Possession isn’t something one or two holding midfielders takes care of, it’s a team thing (and a coaching thing).
  24. It’s the only good spell we’ve had since January so I’d definitely go back to that too.
