  1. Laugh that u won the bet, cry that we didn't have a wager
  2. He is out injured till March. That would be a strange buy. That said, wasn't Downing in crutches when he signed for us
  3. Ross McCormack and Scott Hogan spring to mind for what were basically 3 year and 4 year loan deals.
  4. We sign him on loan now for 18 months and he receives his 380k a week. In the contract we have an option inserted that we can trigger a permanent move to Villa in 18 months time at X £££ per week. In 18 months he will be a free agent as his Barca contract will have expired. This will stop Countinho leaving for another club on a freebie. If he is outstandingly successful with Villa, he will have a queue of clubs wanting to sign him and we wouldn't want a bidding war
  5. Guess where Tro wants Lukaku to play when we sign him
  6. The key is that Villa gets the option to force Coutinho to sign permanently at the end of 18 months rather than let his agents do the rounds with a free agent that just scored 20 goals and 25 assists in the previous season and a half
  7. I assume that it is because that is the remaining length of his contract with Barca.
  8. Not a buy option, an option to get Coutinho to sign a permanent contract with Villa when his Barca contract expires.
  9. Yep and he would be a half decent squad player for us.
  10. hence my comment above, we will be no doubt putting an option to sign permanently in the contract
  11. I don't think Jack will want to leave City for another club where he continues to sit on the bench. Maybe a team with less quality lower down the league would appeal to him more so that he can actually get in the 1st 11
  12. I asked this the other night. Everyone is speaking really highly about him. Stats are very good, but I haven't found anyone that has actually seen him. He is only 5'9" tall, so we are after his ball skills rather than his 'big strong defender take no shit' skills
  13. But no transfer fee if we keep him longer. I assume we will insert a clause, or at least attempt to insert a clause, that will enable us to sign him permanently in 18 months when his contract expires at Barca
  14. Sky saying we have approached Bologna for Hickey, I would say if we signed him it would be seen, at least initially as competition. He is only 19 but is a starter for Bologna
  15. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/59898461 That could have a negative effect on us signing a new LB shortly
  16. An under 50s first world problem at that
  17. I don't think Toon have a chance. Their facilities are dire and a serious threat of relegation. Coutinho doesn't need to squeeze every last penny out of a contract. He will get very well paid at Villa and it will be a much nicer place to work
  18. Maybe the constant talk about Coutinhio and Villa on Sky today will show some people that Sky don't have a bias towards reporting on the Top 6 clubs, and that their bias is reporting on stories that have the most interest to the majority that they can sensationalise. This is exactly why the discussion last weekend was about Lukaku.
  19. Good point, it certainly sets a benchmark we will all like for the next few windows
  20. They sold 80% in 2015, I believe they sold the rest in 2018
  21. The wiz kid may also discover that Sky sold SkyBet a number of years ago and it is no longer run in conjunction with the broadcasting company
  22. Na, I left my paranoia on the shelf today. I think it more likely that our manager wanted him at Villa and gave him a quick call to ask him if he would come to Villa, Coutinho said 'Yes Stevie' and the rest is being played out via the media
  23. Even Wes made the Brasil squad playing for Villa
  24. The rumour mill is saying a loan with an option to buy
