    Why can't Villa do that. Newcastle Utd do NOT have the money that PIF has. They are only one investment out of many by PIF. There is no amount of money Toon can spend that Villa can't match

    Countinho signing should help increase our profile. There is also the fact that he is on 45k a week at Brighton. He won't get a payrise unless he signs a new contract. Lets say he wants to leave. Then he could be very tempted to turn his 45k a week into, say 75k a week, starting now rather than waiting 18 months.

    Woody, u could be right, they did hold their nerve and held out for the 50m for White so they wont be a pushover. But if Bissouma has told them he doesn't want to extend his contract they may be tempted to just cash in now. Once it gets to the summer there will be foreign clubs asking to wait a further 6 months and then sign a pre contract with them for XX sign on fee and XX per week which will be very tempting.

    A healthy transfer fee which would be more than they would get in the summer. Brighton are not getting relegated so selling Bissouma is not a huge risk. Yes it may impact their progression for the rest of this season but they would be able to spend money on a replacement

    Yes they played him for a year before he was charged but that is the same for the rest of their squad too. There was no reason to not play him. He was first arrested on Aug 26th and was refused bail and hasn't played for City since. Also, the offences he is charged with are for times and dates within the last year. Are u suggesting City should have dropped Mendy before the alleged crimes took place?

    I agree it is dodgy to take on a player with an association with this kind of thing, but that could be reflected in his price and there is always the concept of innocent until proven guilty. The club will no doubt assess the risks and make a decision based on that

    I agree. With Rafa saying that Digne wants to leave it would make sense for clubs to leave it till the last minute when Everton are desperate. Then a club should be able to get a loan deal for the rest of the year (Chelsea) or maybe a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer (Villa)

    Depends on the maximum sentence of the offence. If it is a slap on the wrist then it may make sense

    Not trying to defend Mendy but if the player hasn't been charged with anything then what justification is there for not playing him?

    Also, Toon is owned by an investment fund that has lots of money, not all that money is for the Toon. There is no amount of money Toon could spend on players that NSWE could not match.

    okay, maybe if I reword the question. Any thoughts on the transfer fee value of the players that sign for Villa in Jan, be that loan or permanent

    Bissouma would surely be 60m+, if it is true we are in for him. Maybe we are looking for loan to a conditional purchase as long as he doesn't get found guilty / locked up

    Anyway fancy guessing what out Jan transfer budget is? I assume that with Axel going that a CB is going to join us this window and it appears we are after a FB too. Add Coutinho and Bissouma to that list and we are spending a few quid more than I expected

    Mendy got out on bail today. We could really finish this season on a high (from a points perspective)

    Yeah, the court case hasn't happened. I am sure the due diligence would cover that fully. We are hardly going to sign him and then lose him to Her Majesty's accommodation

    If they are going to sell him them surely it will be in the summer. Isn't he injured and not due back till March?

    He hasn't actually signed. He has agreed to join us. He has to travel to UK and undertake a medical. He is expected to travel in the next 48 hrs. He will not be revealed as a Villa player until next week.

    The insecurity of people trying to make up a story that Sky are disrespecting us or covering Trippier more than Coutinho to Villa is quite amusing
