  1. Rangers don't look like the Rangers under their previous manager too
  2. And rescinding the yellow too. A yellow for him and he misses the final
  3. There is a bit of WWF or is it now WWE to it too, some good choreography at times
  4. Tbh, I don't think I understand the rules for a pen anymore. It used to be so much more straightforward and 99% of the time I would make the same decision as generally agreed decision as pundits post match. Now, it is a real mystery to me what constitutes a pen
  5. I didn't realise Bertie was captain, is that a new thing or has he always been?
  6. We shouldn't need to wait too long, it is normal that the date be the end of contract date for the option and this date is normally the last day of June
  7. official site https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/january/11/philippe-coutinho-arrives-/
  8. I think the key difference is that Coutinho has already signed on the dotted line and agreed that if Villa want to make it permanent then we can. We are taking him for a test drive. If we like the feel of him he will be ours. The fee is agreed at 33m and wages already agreed too
  9. But they did get Wood, Burn and Targett for about 40m and Target is a loan which will probably cost them about 20m to make permanent in a few months
  10. I think both Barca and Villa have said there is an option to buy. There is no need for u to have a horrible feeling about this.
  11. An option to buy does not normally give the player any ability to back out of it, if it did it would be fairly pointless. If we exercise the option then Coutinho becomes a Villa player
  12. There shouldn't be any factors required to secure him. We have an option to covert his loan agreement into a permanent for 33m. Neither Barca nor Coutinho can stop this happening. If Liverpool decide to buy Coutinho for 100m, they agree a deal with Villa and pay Villa the 100m as we just exercise our option and pay Barca the 33m. There is zero risk of Coutinho going to any other club unless Purslow agrees to it
  13. Can't wait to see him do it in claret & blue
  14. Southgate is killing international football for England imo. Some great players but God awful football and zero charisma. Gerrard would be much more fun as an England manager
  15. Jamaica for the World Cup. Bailey to grab the golden boot after scoring a hat-trick in the final to beat Germany after they an early 2 nil lead
  16. I agree we are a big club and all that and lots of potential but many clubs can claim likewise. I don't think we can compete with Spurs from a financial perspective. Their stadium is a huge asset and the ability to host American Football, concerts and other events gives them a huge upper hand. I hate Levy, but he is a sharp lad. 10m profit over the next 3 years combined: not a prayer of anything near that imo. Where is the profit going to come from? Are we going to batten down the hatches and have no new players for the next couple of years? Our overheads are going through the roof, we are going to be loss making. Re investment in Villa Park. As you correctly say any investment is not counted towards FFP but again, you correctly say we don't own Villa Park. The problem is that we currently pay rent to the Villa Park holding company and if they invest in the stadium and improve the facilities then FFP dictates we must pay a higher rent. So rather than having stadium investment as a freebie from an FFP perspective it will actually cost us money. Redevelopment of the stadium will directly negatively impact our spending power in the transfer window and on wages.
  17. I have seen our fans on VT give our window 3/10. I guess some people have more understanding of social media than football
  18. I would disagree with that. The expenditure started when we were a Championship side with a squad full of ageing players towards the end of their contracts and loan players. We have now become a mid table PL side with no threat of relegation. That is major progress as it gives us a guaranteed circa 150m in revenue per each. What level of headway do u expect a Championship side to make over a 3 year period?
  19. Martinez has been linked to top teams in Europe. Ollie linked with Arsenal, Buendia lined with Arsenal, Cash with Ath Madrid, Coutinho to Liverpool and other, Nakamba to Everton too
