Gerrard left them mid season and Rangers were 4 points clear, its not like the change was made during the summer and each team had a transfer window and preseason. During this season, Rangers results have got worse since Gerrard left. Yes, Celtic have got better but that doesn't excuse Rangers drawing with Ross County and Aberdeen. That is down to how the manger has the team playing

Rangers have managed to turn a 4 point advantage over Celtic into a 4 point deficit since Gerrard left them

If Archer continues his form at PNE for the remainder of the season it will be difficult to see him not getting a go at the 1st 11 at Villa. As regards Davis, I think his ship has sailed with regard to Villa. He may make it as a midtable striker but not as a striker for where Villa is heading. Best outcome for us is that Davis continues to do well at Forest and they win promotion, they would be kind of forced to buy him for a premium like we were with Mings

I think we have eased the qualification criteria as a result of going backwards under MON. If u have a relative that has tasted Guinness in a pub you are eligible now

That is simply not true. If the player has a say then there is no option.

None of us know what is in the contract and yes it could be anything. However, looking at precedence from other football contracts and it is reasonable to hypothesise that Villa can sign Coutinho if we wish too. Suggesting that Coutinho is not contractually bound to become a Villa player if we exercise the clause is far less likely based on footballing contract precedence.

And as per normal this is negotiated and agreed at the initial signing of the contract. It is the same as when a club has an option to extend a player's contract by 1 year. The vast majority of times the player does not want this option exercised as they could demand more money from a transfer with a lower contract term and the player has no say but to accept the extended contract

I agree, and that is why Aston Villa is attributed with the option and not Barca or Coutinho. They do not have the option

I understand the difference between option and obligation. With Coutinho we have the option. If someone gets a new car on PCP they have the option to a) return the car after 3 years and walk away or b) pay the balance outstanding and keep the car. The car dealer that sold the car has no ability to force the buyer to take a particular option. It is 100% the buyers choice.

We won't see the contract but we do know that Coutinho has signed a contract with Villa and that contract has a clause in it that allows Villa the option to buy Coutinho for 33m. We can interpret that all we like but in football that normally means that the buying club has the right to exercise the clause if they see fit to.

That is when the club that owns the player's contract has more negotiating power. The obligation to buy favours the selling club. Barca were desperate to get Coutinho off their books and didn't have the negotiating power

We obviously can't see the contract but in football it is similar to the way a club has an option to extend a players contract by a further year. The player does not have the ability to refuse the extension

That's not how an option works in footballing contracts, otherwise they are fairly worthless.

Is the place closed as it is falling apart or do the fans not bother attending games? -
I am sure if we go off topic it will be noticed quickly. Baggies got a Brucie bonus with Alex coming in as a coach too

Completely, I don't blame Ramsey, if someone offered me 400k a week I think I would be persuaded to even play for the Blues
