I love the journey too. But if we are enjoying the journey then we are enjoying see Villa get better players into the team. What is wrong with wanting to enjoying seeing us improve other areas in the team

Lots, why do u think I wouldn't. What is wrong with wanting us to do better and wanting us to have better players? Do u not get enjoyment from seeing our team improve and see us playing better football with players with the quality of Buendia and Coutinho?

Football is predictable, is it a surprise to you that City, Liverpool and Chelsea et al are at the top of the league and Norwich, Burnley and Watford are at the bottom of the league? The teams in the midtable are there because the players are decent players but are inconsistent and make mistakes. If we want to move to be a top 6 team we must get rid of our inconsistent players and replace them with players that are not inconsistent. It is incredible that in 2022 that some football fans can't see this

And we are inconsistent because we have inconsistent players. If we want to move up the table we need to replace the inconsistent player with better players. We can then try and push up the table.

We had Leeds beaten, we were 3-1 and we made silly errors to let them get a point. It had nothing to do with the break.

There will always be debate regarding who actually made the error and in most cases when we concede there will be multiple errors from a few players than can be seen as consequential to us conceding. As your comment above says the stats don't mean a lot. But we all can see that Mings makes lots of mistakes and unfortunately he doesn't appear to be able to address this aspect of his game. He is a good defender but imo he will never make it to the top level because of his errors.

Who said he costs a goal every game. I have seen a lot of stupid comments and comments with bias but I have never seen anyone post something like that. I know he is not our worst defender, I have never said he was. But he is meant to be our best defender and he is our captain. We can't have our captain and best defender being so error prone.

I agree but it wasn't Leeds style that cost us the 3 points. We had that game won and errors cost us. If we make silly mistakes we can lose to any team.

Very true and if it wasn't for his errors we would waxing lyrical about him. But that is the core of the issue, it is his errors which are costing us and stopping him becoming a top centre back

What point are you trying to make? That Mings isn't error prone? That he isn't costing us points? Or that Villa wouldn't be better off by upgrading him?

You are completely ignoring the point I am making. Mings is error prone! This is the problem. Yes he is a good defender most of the time but his errors are too frequent and they are costing us points. Saying we don't have money to replace him is just deflecting from the issue

This debate reminds me of the Dean Smith thread in the weeks before he was sacked. So many were defending DS and looking for him to be given more time and saying he should not be sacked. He was sacked and Villa is the better for it. Mings is too error prone for Villa, the sooner he is replaced the better imo and I really hope it is this summer. I expect when he is replaced with a less error prone defender then people will realise how much better we are.

Fans are fickle. Players leave Villa and they are disloyal or a snake. Villa drop Targett from the starting 11 following a few years of loyal service and there is no negative sentiment to Villa for brining in a new LB and leaving Targett's career to stagnate.

His loan to Toon may very well increase the likelihood of us receiving a significant transfer fee for him in the summer.

TBH, having looked at tonight's game and looking at the Newcastle squad and Wilson still to return for the final run in I think Toon will finish ahead of Everton. Everton are in a dog fight and they are not looking good and they don't have a transfer window to fix their awful defence. I am 53 years old and I think there is a real possibility that I may, for the first time in my life, see Everton in the 2nd tier

He is doing a great job and they are looking like they will survive. However, I think Premier League manager of the year would be a little undeserved. However, I do think he should get Championship manager of the year if he keeps them up
