  1. We all laugh at Watford for sacking managers too quickly and not giving them a chance to prove their worth and work with the team. SG has only had 20 games with Villa. 20 games is naff all. I don't know if SG will turn out to be the right manager or not but it would be insanity to sack him without giving him time to prove himself unless we are under threat of relegation. Thinking Villa is under threat of relegation this season just highlights the bias from people posting it.
  2. NSWE and CP are not stupid and they stand to gain or lose a hell of a lot of cash by selecting the wrong manager. It is reasonable to assume that they employed SG because they believed he is the right man to take Villa forward. They have proven to Villa fans in the past that they are good decision makers and that they have patience.
  3. And compare the experience of Conte to the experience of SG. The hope is that SG will learn from these games and will develop. Sir Alex was on the verge of getting sacked only to get a win against Forest (if I recall correctly) in the FA Cup and he turned out okay for Man Utd
  4. It is only short term if the CEO and owners elect it to be short term. Villa do not have to do a Watford if we do not want to. If NSWE and CP believe that SG is the man to bring Villa forward and believe he needs more time to get it right then they can give him more time. NSWE and CP do not need to be influuenced by other's actions. The reason for Oct/Nov is to give him a fair crack at season 2, following a summer window and a preseason. If we are relegation candidates then CP may be forced to act. I don't believe that to be the case and I can see SG getting all of next season to show CP his development as a PL football manager
  5. Fans view on giving a manager more time very often comes down to their thoughts on the manager as a person rather than their thoughts as a football manager. Nearly everyone liked Deano and wanted to give him more time, people don't like SG and therefore don't want to give him more time. Fortunately, it looks like the people managing our football club make their decisions on how they see the club and the manager progressing rather than personal feelings.
  6. We are just finished week 15 of the year, so lots more games to be played and have about the same ppg as last year and last year wasn't a bad year and this year is looking like one. I am not sure I understand the logic.
  7. I think a lot of people are ignoring, deliberately or otherwise, that Purslow employed SG in the full knowledge that he is a young manager and inexperienced in the PL. Even when the SG announcement was made Purslow stated (I am paraphrasing here) that it is SG's attitude to football, his desire to win and his pedigree as a winner that made SG a standout candidate for the job. Everyone in the media and everyone on here debated SG's inexperience. It is naïve to think CP expected SG to become an error free PL manager overnight. SG has only managed in the PL for 20 games and he is still learning as a manager. As long as SG sticks to his principles his job at Villa is safe till at least next Oct/Nov regardless of remaining results this season. Just like NSWE and CP gave Deano time, they will also give SG time. If u are not a fan on SG, be prepared for a lot longer having to see him as our manager.
  8. The problem with that question is that some people will be just against pineapples regardless how they taste on a pizza and just won't give pineapples a fair chance. If you are anti Pineapple there is nothing can be said to convince people otherwise and they will just ignore all facts and grasp at straws to find a reason pineapple should not be included on a pizza.
  9. That depends on the type of share. These type of shares for key personnel are normally not subject to dilution.
  10. Those sort of facts have no place in the relegation rhetoric.
  11. I would agree that does apply to some of the Villa fans reading some of the predictions on here
  12. Is the panic over now that Hammers have equalised or are we still going down?
  13. Would that not suggest we are looking like finishing 4th from bottom and avoiding relegation?
  14. So you are saying it is not about feasibility, it is that you disagree that aligning the youth setup with the footballing strategy of the first team is wrong. On that we will need to agree to disagree
  15. Replace the name Stevie G with Pep or Klopp and is that a bad thing? Purslow has to put the correct process in place and get the right people in place. He should not compromise on that. If and when he feels SG or Lange are the wrong people he must sack them. But he should not make weak decisions to accommodate weak staff
  16. Okay, you don't think it is feasible. But does that mean that you agree it would be beneficial if it did happen? I think it would be beneficial, I don't know if the club has the people capable to implement it but I would like to see it happen and I think the club should strive to do its best
  17. So if you don't see any difference in having the first team manager influencing the youth team, what difference does it make? What point are you making?
  18. Our discussion was not about whether SG is the right manager or not. It was about the setup of youth development and the linking this to the first team. If you just just want to have a SG bashing debate then be upfront about it and I could have saved my time and energy engaging.
  19. Not that difficult to Go Figure! Lange is in his job a year now and will have his scouting network working better, we look to have consolidated as a PL team so potentially more investment from NSWE as the risk is less. SG knows football and it is fair to assume he will know a good player. So the future of the first time looks reasonably sound and I would expect it to improve over the coming seasons. That is regardless of whether SG has the ability to man mange / make the correct subs / pick the right team / motivate the players etc. They are different skills, that is why I believe we will be in a better place
  20. You seem to be making it learn skills or develop the style of the first team as choice between one or the other. They can work in together. All the skills and technique can be learned and all of the other skillsets developed but the overriding football philosophy can still be aligned with that of the first team.
  21. Every time I have seen him play it is on the left too
  22. But if the theory sounds right then the club should follow it? It is up to Purslow to make sure that it is implemented correctly. He needs to be all over Lange to make sure it happens. To move the club forward we need to do the right things and we need Purslow to make these things happen.
  23. Surely technique for youth development that aligns with first team philosophy are not mutually exclusive? If, for example, the first team play a high press game, do you not think it makes sense for our youth teams to develop into this type of footballing style?
  24. Didn't he already change a lot / most of the backroom staff? I would also be very supportive of the first team manager having this remit at the club. I am not saying that SG is the right man but I think it is right that the youth setup is designed to fit in with what the first team manager wants to do
