  1. Sky saying we have enquired for Bassy, this appears to be gathering momentum. I do feel Mings is going to be sold to the highest bidder (if we get a bidder). Chambers and Carlos as 1st choice and Konsa and Bassy as backups. We cover some fullback positions with this too and if we get really unlucky with injuries then Bouba can drop back. So, after Bassy, we just need to sign Bissousma and a striker and I will be very happy. If we can flog Ollie to West Ham for 40m+ and buy Darwin Nunez for about 65m that would be a great window
  2. TBH, I was pissed off with a warning from a mod, said I was off topic and I dont believe I was. I feel like a football manager after a game. I can't slag off the ref when he is completely wrong or showing bias or I will get a 100k fine . But too many exciting things happening not to join in at the moment.
  3. So if we win on Aug 6th Steve is a good manger and if we lose he is a bad manager? Is that not a little like writing off a rookie manager after 6 months in the job and not giving him time to see if he is a good manager or not? I don't know whether he will turn out to be good or bad but I at least am able to comprehend the basic principle that he needs some time to prove his abilities or otherwise. If we are not looking like a vastly improved team by the time the league finishes for the WC then I expect there may be questions asked about him. But to ask the questions now is just immature thinking imo
  4. Bloody hell, how is this thread becoming and anti Steve thread. Can we get back to Diego Carlos. Is he our new left sided or right sided CB?
  5. Probably meeting some players in their homes with Lange and Purslow setting up some signings to be announced on Jan 1st
  6. How will Aug 6th reveal if Gerrard turns out to be a good manager or not?
  7. Nor will the players, they will be in Qatar and then on holidays
  8. Pep or Klopp wouldn't get us top 5 next season. Like everyone else on here, none of us know if Gerrard can get us top 5, he has only been a PL manager for about 6 months and is a Rookie. We are all still waiting to find out if he turns out to be a good manager or a bad manager. It is impossible to tell with so few games under his belt
  9. Tarkowski starts right and Carlos starts left, even though Carlos is right footed
  10. I suspect that comment will stand the test of time only a little longer than the one about Everton winning.
  11. Its just like looking at Arteta from the last year. Questionable selections, questionable tactics, very questionable transfers and questionable coaching ability. The only difference appears to be that the majority of Arsenal fans wanted Arteta sacked and it only appears to be the minority of Villa fans want Gerrard sacked.
  12. I certainly hope our manager, whether it is SG or otherwise believes they are right with what they are trying to do. It would be idiotic to employ or keep a manger that did not believe in what they are doing on the training pitch. Yes, SG or any manager needs to learn from how things are going but he must believe in himself and what he is doing.
  13. Loan fee and wages being paid by Toon and the increased likelihood of getting a decent transfer feee in the summer as he is playing 1st team football.
  14. Why do u keep trying to insinuate that I am saying it is ONLY down to money, each post I have made says it is not.
  15. The 'notion' that the owners take so much money out of the club, are u having a laugh? The club is highly leveraged due to the structure of acquisition using the club as equity. They are extracting massive amounts of money year on year in interest. I agree there are other problems at united too, as I said in my comment, the 'management of the club'
  16. When does he say how hard done United are? He is one of the biggest critics of what is happening at United. He says that United fans are hard done by and and in fairness they are been taken for a ride with the management of the club and the owners taking so much cash out of it.
  17. I sort of categorise managers interview skills into 4 groups. First groups is lots of charisma and take no shyte type manager that is not afraid to be controversial in an interview e.g. Jose at Chelsea & SAF. I used to love their interviews. Then there is the denial and BS and blame everyone interview e.g. Bruce, his interviews are god damn awful. The third group is the manager that speaks fairly honestly and openly about the team and the performance and doesn't hide behind excuses, I put SG in this group. Then the last group are the managers you just don't understand and need an interpreter, such as Bielsa and Lambert, these interviews are just boring.
  18. I suspect people that complement him on his interview skills are referring to the message he delivers and the points he highlights and not his oratory skills.
  19. Each transfer window there have been calls for an upgrade at left back
  20. It is 51 games missed in the last 6 seasons. He missed 13 games in the last 5 seasons. 6 seasons ago he missed 38 games as he was out injured for the entire season with a Hamstring injury. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matt-targett/verletzungen/spieler/250478
  21. Let's hope his injury free purple patch lasts to the end of the season and into the summer transfer window
