  1. I believe Newcastle are interested in him too. An advantage of us doing our business early and giving Sevilla a few quid means they are in a much better to fend off our PL competition from buying their other star players on the cheap. Its lovely to see our club as the ones that get it right. Our transfer window is looking like the Man Utd transfer windows when SAF was there. Quick, decisive, quality signings and picking up the out of contract star player for free that lots of clubs wanted. The latter half of June and July and Aug will be quite boring for Villa fans. I am already looking forward to Jan to see the players we pick up after the world Cup
  2. Great player and would add to our squad. However, I hate the constant diving and feigning injury.
  3. Hopefully he will get to taste some Haggis and deep fried Mars bars soon
  4. I am always sceptical of Transfermarkt valuations. McGinn 27m? I would say 40m, Traore 18m? I would drive him to the buying club myself, a few other valuations look a bit generous too
  5. Yeah, they certainly have that look about them. Richy and or DCL will no doubt leave this this summer and they may really struggle next season
  6. I am not disputing anything you are saying but Premier League football with ambitions of qualifying for Europe is not a place for sentiment. The management of the club need to be ruthless in their decision making to take us to the next level
  7. When u think of the top 6 and then add Villa, Newcastle, West Ham and Leicester into the mix it shows how difficult it is to become a top half club, let alone a top 6 or European qualifying club. Everton look like the need a bit of a rebuild and don't have the funds to invest in the team, they will be struggling around the lower half of the table for a few years and possibly fighting relegation for the next couple of seasons. We were saved by NSWE, another few years in the Championship with Bruce as manager and we could have been cut adrift from competing with PL clubs
  8. If Forest win on Sunday he could be worth about 10m to us. They would have to sign him, he has had a similar impact there as Mings had for us when we won promotion and we effectively had no choice but to sign him permanently for top dollar at the time
  9. We need to be able to sell players each summer for big fees and make some decent profit. Selling Dougie for 25m would be great for us.
  10. I agree, we dont need Tarkowski. But if we could get 25m for Mings and replace him with Tarkowski that would give us a big chunk of cash to upgrade Ollie EDIT: Also, if we swapped Mings for Tarkowski that would mean we could register circa 20m/25m profit for our accounts this year. This helps us with FFP and gives us more financial leverage in the transfer windows
  11. I would LOVE a cup and qualification for Europe via that. That would be a brilliant season for me. Would having Carlos, Mings and Tarkowski be a bit of a luxury, would be be better off putting some cash into upgrading Ollie to a striker with a first touch? I also like the idea of us signing Bassy and Bissouma in this window too
  12. I don't think people are saying Mings is off because we signed Carlos, I think it is that Mings will be off if we sign another CB e.g. Tarkowski
  13. Good point and ideally where we are going, not quite sure we are there yet but it is looking much better now than it has in a very very long time
  14. Its the Danny Ings sweetener going the other way will win the deal for us
  15. 100% agree with this. It shows excellent decision making at the club and, as you say, it is demonstrating joined up thinking which is something we have lacked for a long time. To be able to improve our defence and work the financials to leave money for other areas of the pitch, or other windows is brilliant business if we can pull it off
  16. He likes the sound of his own voice, so much so he still started a debate with Keown about the quality and role of a modern CB, which just may be the one topic possible that Keown actually has a better knowledge and understanding of
  17. Quite a few of them but some argue that he is only worth 10m/15m LOL
  18. Bayern Munich becoming the next Everton, rumoured 40m fee for Mane who is 30 years old. We didn't hang on to the accolade for too long
  19. TBH, I can't see any club paying big money for Mings either albeit some on here have some crazy high valuations. There is a story doing the rounds saying Newcastle are interested and the fee mentioned is 30m. The real benefit of selling Mings would be the accounting profit this season. We will only have a small amount of amortisation costs on our books, maybe 7m/8m so any transfer fee above that would be profit this year.
  20. I am guessing an attraction of signing Tarkowski is that he is free and would mean we could pocket the transfer fee of Mings. We can argue who is the better player but the bottom line is that they are quite similar players in terms of quality and style of play. The fact that Gerrard has mentioned on multiple occasions that he won't tolerate inconsistency and doesn't want inconsistent players makes me think that Mings days are numbered and Tarkowski could be his replacement
  21. Everton forum is currently discussing selling Demarai Grey for 20m, maybe add them to your list of delusional fans too
  22. I can't see Mings wanting to stay as a backup but I think Konsa will. If we can sell Mings for 31m then that looks like a direct swap for Carlos and we can bring in Tarkowski on a free and probably get a few million for Hause. That would give us Tarkowski and Carlos as first choice CBs with Chambers and Konsa as backups for a net zero transfer fee. To me that looks much stronger to last year and would be a good bit of business imo
  23. Konsa is injured and will be out till the start of next season. I think that rules out a transfer of him this summer.
  24. He did come ac ross a little confused. However, it is clear from the interview that none of the 3 think Villa will be involved in a relegation battle and top half and pushing for Europe is where they expect us to be. That's a real sign that we are doing something right. I like the transfers so far but I would love to see us take in 60m+ in sales too. Targett, Traore, Luiz, and Mings could bring in some good revenue and allow us to invest in a few more players with real quality. We had a net positive transfer spend last season, it would be great to be there or there abouts again this season. It would put us in a commanding position for the following year to add a worldie striker to push for a Championship spot
