  1. And a somewhat reversal in form from the first 11 games.
  2. Maybe if Villa had a strategy to just avoid relegation and finish each season somewhere between 12th and 17th there might be merit in keeping Davis. But our goal is Europe and Champions League football. This is clearly evidenced by the actions of the owners and Purslow. The talk is to keep Davis on our books and give him another year on loan to improve. At the start of the 23/24 season Ollie and Ings will. be worried about getting in the Villa squad unless they have stellar seasons this year. There is absolutely no chance Davis will be anywhere near a Villa team sheet in the 23/24 season
  3. I don't believe so, I think they see what he can do but don't believe he can. have the same impact in the PL when playing against much better defenders. Are there any strikers in the PL that don't score goals and are played on the basis that they can hold the ball up well? I can't think of an example of a Davis type player in the PL
  4. Fortunately, those who would refuse 15m and want to hang out for 20m have no influence on our transfer negotiations and that is left to the sensible people at the club
  5. Yep, and would need a side kick that can speak fluent Dutch and fluent English
  6. I think every person that has commented on Davis on here is completely aware of his strengths and how good he is at holding the ball up and moving the game further up the pitch
  7. With Beale having confirmed as gone maybe it is time for a new thread about who will be the next Assistant Head Coach
  8. QPR may be a good place to send some of the kids on loan for next season
  9. Ten Hag needed a Dutch speaker to help him. His role is a bit like the guy that used to stand beside Bielsa at all his press conferences
  10. Lots of football fans are tribal and can't think clearly when it comes to their own team and players. Only yesterday, I read on here we should refuse 15m for Davis. I am not sure which is more bazaar, being offered 15m for Davis or refusing it
  11. They’re jealous of your ability to use an apostrophe
  12. Hopefully they do and we could then get him on the cheap. That said, if the price does come down there may be competition for his signature. Transfer window is not easy for clubs
  13. I think it is more of an opinion than a link. It was an interview with Cascarino on Talk Sport while discussing Bale and asked... https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/05/31/go-and-play-550k-a-week-star-tipped-to-join-newcastle-or-aston-villa/ I know HITC is a crap reference, but it is a quote and many different media outlets with the identical wording.
  14. He is highly rated by a lot of people tho and I expect he will have many suiters. Whether the ball park price is 30m+ or 15m+, by keeping the bidding to late in the window it will only benefit the buying club albeit if there is too much competition for his signing there could be a bidding war. I assume clubs will also be doing a lot of due diligence regarding his legal challenges
  15. I would think the longer this drags on the lower the price Brighton will get. They will be desperate to sell before the window closes to avoid losing him on a free. I suspect that is the reason there are no bids in for him as buying clubs want Brighton to be under pressure to sell
  16. Nor do I, he clearly brought him in to be Asst Head Coach. But my comment says Change brings Opportunity, and I commented that as Beale has been with Gerrard at Villa for about 7 months or so it has helped Gerrard bed in to a new job. It was a big step up for Gerrard to manage such a big club in the PL and it will have helped that he had a close and trusted colleague at his side. But now that it looks like Beale is going it is an opportunity to improve on Beale. This is what Gerrard and Purslow and Lange must strive to do.
  17. Change brings opportunity and as you suggest the timing couldn't be better. Gerrard had the bedding in period with Beale which helped Gerrard and now it is time for him to prove himself and bring in the right man and take our wonderful club forward and into the top half and pushing for Europe.
  18. Nothing like good succession planning
  19. If u mean G mac, yes he is Assistant Head Coach but so too is Beale. We have 2 assistant head coaches
  20. He's on 2.5m a year. No chance Forest will pay 7.5m to have Davis for 1 season.
  21. Yeah, but if we can do that, think of what we could do with the money when we sell ElGhazi and Trez for 15m each and PL player Nakamba for 25m. Kalinic must be worth 15m, he just lifted the Croatian Cup. Add that to the 15m for Davis and we have 85m for a new striker.
  22. No room for the Ian Dowie's of the world in modern Premier League football
