  1. When I think about this there I times I agree with u but also times when I think we could be opportunistic. Other clubs may not be able to afford that and if the selling club like the idea of 70m and a player sees a 4x increase in wages plus the opportunity to play PL football we could be an attractive proposition
  2. Good point, it make u wonder how many Champions Leagues and League titles that Gerrard will win over his career as a manager
  3. Really tough question. I would like Darwin Nunez but he is more expensive. Ben Brereton Díaz may be a good addition at the 20m mark as one to develop if we felt Ings can play as the main striker. My knowledge of the European market is not great but I am guessing there are some high scorers that would like a chance in the PL with Villa. I think our next striker should be in the 70m+ price range and we get a real clinical finisher. I think we will create enough chance with our attacking players now that we have built some solidity at the back
  4. I agree, I would spend the money elsewhere. My point about Richarlison was that I would prefer him to Ollie but if I had 50m quid to spend I would buy neither of them
  5. Yep, I would see him as that, mainly wide on the left but can play right. A bit like where Jack played
  6. Its shorter than Richarlison when typing, also it is what the Everton fans call him
  7. The think I like (and dislike) about Richarlison is that he has fight in him. He is one of those players who can roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. I hate the feigning injury though, that would have to stop for me to accept him as a Villa player
  8. Swap Ollie for Richy would be a yes from me
  9. The media reported in April that Man utd had a bid of 105m euro rejected for Nunez. Whatever price he eventually goes for it will be a biggie
  10. So how much do you think Darwin is worth? You have a real habit of laughing off or disagreeing with comments and suggesting valuations are ridiculous etc but you never answer the question as to what u think the right number is. You did it the other day with the value of player we could sell. You just post a childish comment and then run for cover
  11. That development better be complete in after about 7 or 8 games
  12. I would be happy with Gomz too, I just want a half decent LB that has potential and can provide cover. I want to see Digne play most games next season, yes it is a risk relying on Digne but we are not quite at the 2 quality players for every position yet. We also have Targett if we want to dig our heels in
  13. Bissy and Bassy for 50m combined and risk it with KKH as back up for Cash, we could also keep Freddie on the books as back up in case of serious injury. We could cope with offloading Ollie and SJM and bringing in Darwin for a net expenditure of abut 50m
  14. He is good, but isn't he only 19? he could very easily turn out to be one of many Newcastle disaster signings. But I suppose they still have 25m Chris Woods to rely on
  15. My dream is to sell Ollie to Hammers for 40m and McGinn to someone for 30m, so that is 70m in and a hell of a lot of wages saved and add 30m to that and sign Darwin Nunez for 100m and announce to the world that Villa mean serious ***** business
  16. Unless Gerrard calls to his house in Northern France and explains the project
  17. I suspect that when a gem from the Nigerian league has 5 penalties in his YT highlights that he may not be the clinical goal scorer we are looking for. Tonev had better highlights than that
  18. No hammering from me. I agree with u. And the fact that he is not a Villa player today suggests the Villa management agree too
  19. It hadn’t really sunk in but when u put it like that I do have to agree with you. Purslow and Gerrard have done an amazing job at recruitment. It is really taking Villa to the next level
  20. Why? and who said they are mates, when Gerrard was appointed there was a lot of this type of narrative to try and suggest there was something dodgy about the appointment but wasn't it reported that Gerrard and Purslow hadn't been in contact for a number of years before Purslow discussed the Villa job with him. They are hardly mates
  21. I think Gerrard can make it as an elite manager too but that is based on very limited evidence. If he can deliver a good season next year then I will really start to believe he will become one as opposed to thinking he can become one. The bit I really like about his appointment is that the club is leveraging Gerrard's reputation to bring the club to a higher level while also testing his ability as a manager. If Purslow has to sack Gerrard in the next 12 months, the club will be in a better place than when Gerrard joined us. Its that type of management at Villa that I am really loving and give me huge confidence for the future.
  22. When I watched the goal he scored against Bristol in the preseason after we signed him I thought that we have signed one of the best players in the world and he would be a star in the PL. Some of the touches he had in games and some of the goals showed pure genius. But then, as u say, at times he is like a pub player. Must be hugely frustrating for a manager. But at least there is something there that may justify us getting a half decent transfer fee for him.
  23. At 25 years old and looking at probably signing a 5 year contract, this is one of the most important decisions Bissouma will have to make in his footballing career. He will have many suiters and he needs to get this right. Taking some time to reflect and weigh up his options is the right thing to do. I would much prefer him to take a few weeks to think about it and then join Villa because he believes it is the right move for him rather than see a contract that will be worth 30m plus and getting a hard on and just signing without thinking.
  24. That describes my impression of Traore perfectly. At times he looks a phenomenal talent.
