The price is the difficult one. What would we want for him and what would other clubs be prepared to pay. I would say we would want a premium, hence my 40m comment, I would expect other clubs would value him closer to 30m. But if we did get a sizeable offer in I am sure CP would like to seem him sold as it would a very large profit to register on our accounts.

No need to disagree. I also think Gerrard likes SJM and I can't see him leaving this window. I also can't see Spurs going for him either. My post was just for Sid's benefit as it was a rumour in the media about an outgoing player and Sid was saying he was looking for rumours about outgoing players. I was just speculating what Gerrard would do with 40m to replace SJM.

For me, every single player at Villa has a price, there is not one player I would object to leaving. If the price is right I am confident that the recruitment team can work the market to improve us as we trade players

That Bissouma was NOT on bail until yesterday, contrary to what you have posted. He was released from bail last Jan. It was the 40 year old man that was on bail until yesterday. You are mixing up who was on bail. That is my point
-
He was not on conditional bail until yesterday. He was released from bail last January. It was the 40 year old man that was on conditional bail until yesterday. It even says this in the article that you posted about the bail status of Bissouma. Try reading the the article again. BTW, pinching someone's arse is sexual assault.

I would normally agree with that but Conte has got Levy exactly where he wants him. The fans love Conte and he has delivered Champions League football. Levy is going to be forced to open the cheque book or Conte will walk. This could benefit us

There is a gathering bit of media momentum that McGinn will be off to Spurs. If we could squeeze 40m+ out of Levy it would give us a few quid for an interesting replacement

There are very few rumours of any player transfers. The media are making as much noise as they can about players that are becoming out of contract and some other high profile players but other than that it is fairly quiet. The international break, player's holidays and the fact that the transfer window is not yet open are probably good reasons why there is very little new. We are just spoiled at Villa. We managed to convert two loans to permanent, a free transfer of a player out of contract and we obviously agreed with Carlos to buy out the remainder of his contract to be able to sign him outside of the window. When the internationals are over I expect we will see things heating up and a little excitement

I don't believe the alleged offence is rape, from what I read it is pinching a girl's arse at the bar in the nightclub. It also appears that there is no evidence against him other than being present at the time of the alleged pinch. He was arrested and released and is not on bail. He is under investigation but I would assume everyone present at the nightclub who was within an arm's reach of the arse in question is also under investigation. However, the 40 year old man who was also arrested has been released on bail following the initial investigation so the police must believe there is some evidence against him, whether that is circumstantial or actual is unknown.

During a transfer window, and particularly for a 25 year old, it would be naive and ill advised if he didn't assess all options to him for where we can move to. Also, the more interest in him the more leverage he has to command a higher wage. It doesn't mean he has a bit of an ego or that his agent has. It means he is sensible.

I can think of much more entertaining bets with the Missus that wouldn't impact the bank account

Maybe if you try it you would understand the London pull. I lived in London for about 6 years and i worked there for a further 10 years or so. It is a great city. Lots to do, great nightlife, great fun, bars & restaurants and easy access to travel around the world and some really nice places to live.

Media reporting they want Ake and City want 50m. It will be funny if they come in with a big offer for Mings. The Toon fans see Mings as not good enough for them. Maybe we could sell them Konsa too and give them 3 of our back four from last season

It does seem like a bit of a bargain buy, but not as good as Kamara . No doubt the Toon fans will be saying they never wanted him and that they didn't offer a bigger transfer fee and bigger wages

The conditional bail that was up yesterday was the 40 year old and not Bissouma. Bissouma's bail ended before he travelled to the African cup of Nations back in Jan. He is no longer on bail and is only under investigation. Until the case is closed he will continue to be under investigation as he was present at the time the alleged incident occurred.

Bloody hell, didn't realise it was so high but I suppose it is very much skewed by the top 30 earners, so maybe an average of about 50k for the non elite players so it shouldn't be too difficult to shift our players on

I agree, the wages will be a problem when trying to sell on. However, the average PL wage is crazy now and 40k/50k is not exactly seen as expensive these days. Sanson and Traore have a lot of positive attributes and I can see some teams liking the and if the sale price is under 10m that is somewhat seen as a risk free purchase these days. The players would get a longer contract to what they have remaining a VP and could see an opportunity to get more game time and possibly take a wage cut or maybe take a payment from us to bugger off e.g. 1m each to accept a lower wage from another club. If will be interesting to see what Lange can do

Also, removing Sanson and Traore from our accounts would remove a budgeted 10m loss per season for the next two seasons which will put us in a much healthier place and give us more leverage in the next few transfer windows

In FFP times the losses on Sanson and Traore would be fairly low. Selling traore for 8m would be about breakeven and Sanson for 8m would be about 2m/3m. Throw in the savings on wages and it looks like a very good move from an FFP perspective

The 3.5m is only really a short term loan to Roma until they give us back 30m for Dougie
-
I suspect we are not far off doing that today. Kamara would be on multiples of wages. My point was really in reference to younger players that have made a name for themselves but are playing in France or Spain or Germany and maybe be 'only' on 20k/30k a week but our under contract at their club
