    I agree but in fairness to the recruitment team at the time we needed to attract players to Villa and we were not an attractive proposition at the time. No chance of winning anything and high potential of relegation. In order to convince people to join us we needed to overpay in wages and transfer fees. It worked (just about) as we are now established as a PL team. If we can recoup transfer money like this with Targett that is a great result

    As we bought him in 2017, the accounting rules will mean that virtually the full amount of the 12m will be profit as we have already paid the majority of the 12m, plus we save 3m a year on wages. As you say, there will have been a loan fee too. That's not a bad return on a player that has reached his level and is never going to set the world alight. We got lucky that Toon were in a mess and took him on loan and he got some game time.

    You are right with that, it is a bit silly saying that a player didn't get seduced by London when he signed for the club paying the most money and with the most potential

    Another DCM, a LB and a striker would make a massive difference to us. It would give us backup for Kamara and the ability to rotate DCM or play a different formation, Another LB will be back up for Digne and the right guy could also be backup for a CB. We have lots of attacking players for midfield and would just need a striker to be able to start ahead of Ollie and Ings if called upon. That's not a total revamp but it would help us through a season without reverting to last year's team

    Providing we get lucky with injuries. A couple of injuries and we have more or less the same team as last season. That is not a position Purslow or Gerrard want imo

    I think a year on loan playing 90 mins every week would be a much better option to sitting our bench. He looks to be part of the future of Villa so we need him to develop his football and experience

    Southgate is afraid to lose games and plays defensive football and hopes for a moment of individual brilliance to win against the better teams. I don't believe a plan to win against the better teams exists. Its a plan not to lose

    Like every aspect of AVFC since NSWE bought us, We are improving the quality of our bomb squad. Sanson, Targett, Guilbert and Traore are much better quality than the likes of Micah and Henri

    Sponsorship deals are not signed on potential, you don't buy advertising space because in the future it will be a great place to advertise. Purslow would be naive to even try and sell a medium/long term sponsorship deal. We will get a much bigger deal when we are finishing higher up the table. We need to keep those contracts as short term as possible for the moment so that we don't tie ourselves into a low paying deal when we are in Europe

    Usually these people on Twitter contradict themselves in separate Tweets but doing it in a single Tweet is a new one for me 'Yves Bissouma is no longer on the list. Villa have moved on' quickly followed by 'Yves Bissouma may also be targeted again'. Well done Greg!
