    The captain does not have to be the best player. Many clubs fall into this trap. The captain needs to be a player that is able to get Gerrard’s decisions to the players during a game and needs to make sure the players are doing what they are meant to be doing. This skill set is different to being the best player on the pitch

    Mings is clearly not wanted as captain by Gerrard so we need to accept we are getting a new captain. Doug should absolutely not be given the armband while letting his contract run down, I would give it to ElGhazi before I would give it to Doug. As I posted, Kamara has just arrived and I am unsure he has fluent English. I also think a GK is a bad choice as captain

    But that is just arguing against McGinn. The purpose of my post is that people are only arguing against McGinn and n out offering any alternatives

    As nobody will suggest anyone else I will throw out a few options. None of our attacking players can do it as there is way too much uncertainty there. Midfield options are McGinn, Doug and Kamara. Doug can’t have it as he hasn’t signed a contract and Kamara just joined us and I am unsure if he can even speak fluent English. Defenders are a choice of Cash, Konsa, Carlos and Digne. Carlos is not long enough here, Digne could possibly do it but needs more time at Villa first and that leaves Konsa and Cash. Konsa is just back from serious injury and does not appear to be a 1st 11 starter, so that leaves Cash. Cash would be perfect for the job, good player, guaranteed starter and well liked. But is Cash a ‘captain’, does he want the responsibility? Only Gerrard knows this and he elected to for for McGinn

    It’s funny the amount of people against McGinn as captain but I haven’t seen any other outfield alternatives mentioned. We need to accept that our manager doesn’t rate Mings so what’s a different captain. Any suggestions of who?

    If not McGinn, there are very few alternatives. Villa just doesn't have that type of player at the moment. Maybe in time Kamara but I can't think of any other outfield player that would work as captain. I am not considering Mings as it is clear Gerrard doesn't want Mings as captain and his place in the first 11 is under threat. It doesn't really matter whether people agree with that or not, Gerrard made the decision to replace him as captain so who else is there. It could be argued Emi1 but I am really not a fan of a GK captain

    His problem was with Carson Yeung and not the club, he described his exit like being dumped by a girlfriend. With Yeung gone he will be back for sloppy seconds, he has a track record of liking sloppy seconds

    35m investment in West ham would give him very little return. If he loans the money to purchase Blouses and the loan is defaulted on I am sure he will take ownership of Blues again. He can then sell his shares in West Ham and take over Blues.

    The PL manager sackings will kick off in time for the WC break to let the new guy come in and be ready for the Jan transfer window imo. There will be a few sackings inn or around Nov 15th

    13 on 8.3 xG was an even greater over performance than 25 on 16.7. He has consistently per performed at a very high rate for the two seasons. The other season he scored what he was expected to score. But 21/22 he only played a small number of games and that reduces the dataset which can skew the results. Danny needs to play more games!

    If they are good enough they are old enough. Look at Haaland, he is only 18 months older than Cameron. He hasn't spent the last year out on loan at a lower league, he has been ripping it up in the Bundesliga and the CL. I am not suggesting Archer is as good as Haaland but it shows that age should not be the factor to stop u playing at the highest level. Bellingham is 18 months younger than Archer.

    I agree with the first part, jury still out on the second part. Would I swap Gerrard for Poch tomorrow if the opportunity presented itself? I probably would, but I do like what Gerrard is doing for Villa.

    The problem with the statement is that you are 'just stating facts', without context, by just stating facts they lose a significant amount of their value
