I doubt his girlfriend's contract will deter a club from putting in a bid. If we get a suitable bid this window I am sure Doug will leave. I suspect he may be able to find a new girlfriend in Rome if necessary.

It would be poor business if we lose Doug next summer on a free, it wouldn't surprise me if we accepted a low ball offer close to or on deadline day e.g. 10m and had a replacement lined up. We may have an exciting last day after all

And moving jobs / countries isn't the end of the world, lots of people do it and lots of times it doesn't work. Freddie is in the fortunate that moving house for him is less of an inconvenience than it would be for non footballing people as they have a huge financial benefit that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. I am quite sure Freddie and his family will cope with the stress of it all

I would like to see Sanson stay as a squad player but I would like to see Doug, Hause and Davis make an exit this summer along with Guilbert, Traore and AEG

He is only very young and was particularly so at Everton, he got 19 in 46 for PSG in between his time at Everton and Juve. At Juve is was mostly used as a sub (Dybala was ahead of him). He played a total of 1089 mins is is just a little over 12 games worth of football and scored 5 and had 3 assists. I don't think he is as bad as the high level stats suggest. At 22, if we could take over Juve's loan deal which is 3m for the season and 24m buy it may be a fairly risk free opportunity if we can have the buy as an option and not a mandatory clause. He is the sort of player that I think the right club and some TLC and he could be very good

There is a very regular rumbling of us being interested in Kean from Juve (Everton). He is still only 22 and has a lot of positives (and negatives). I do like the idea of getting him on loan with an option to buy for about 25m and watching him scores 20 goals next season and then forcing Everton to sell him for only 25m. I don't think the Everton fans would be too happy and no doubt Gerrard would get a little kick out of it

Sports is a multi billion dollar industry with players in all different sports earning crazy money and it has global media and advertisement leverage. The idea that politics can be kept out of sport is a little naive and utopian in my opinion.

I believe new loan rules came in place on July 1st this year. I am googling it to try and find out but can't find the answer. The person who told be is fairly credible with his knowledge on these things but it sounds barmy to me

Does anyone have a good understanding of the Loans rules? A mate told me that a player who is in the last 12 months of their contract cannot be sent out on loan. Is this true? If so, does that mean that we can't loan ElGhazi and either have to pay him off or keep him on our payroll next year unless someone comes in with a bid. This would no doubt encourage encourage derisory offers on the last day of the window which we will probably have to accept to get him off the payroll

I have got to the stage of hoping that Dougie will be off. I don't think he will extend his contract so I would like to see 20m+ for him now rather than zero next summer. If we could get 20m and add a few pennies from the piggybank to that it could be a very exciting replacement

I agree. In some cultures, people believe that women are not entitled to an education. If a football club had a message on their shirt saying they supported education for women and a player refused to wear it I would hope the club never gave him another opportunity to ever wear the club's shirt (regardless of sponsor's name) again. I am struggling to understand why people are finding reasons to defend Gana with this.

It may result in Ty focusing on defending and making fewer mistakes, that would be an improvement for us.
-
But why does he wear a top with gambling sponsors on it without a problem? Sounds a little like his beliefs are elective based on his opinion as opposed to religious beliefs

How do u know this?

Against weaker opposition I would definitely start with Ings. More opportunities will be created for our striker(s) and Ings is the better finisher. If we were playing City, I would probably start with Watkins as he can make more of a nuisance of himself which could help keep them from pushing forward all the time.

That was the Watford game last season, we are playing Bournemouth in the first game
-
I think we would have heard something from the club to suggest our transfer business was over if they didn't intend getting another player in. I believe we are open to another player but only if it is the right player and at the right price. We look to have finally got smart at transfers and get specific targets in for specific positions, the hit and hope approach is no longer. Gerrard is probably happy with the squad he has for the coming season but imo the club will move for the right player if the opportunity presents itself and I believe that Lange et al are looking for those opportunities
-
I would never have guessed that if u had asked me. That is a real sign of how far we have come under NSWE
-
That probably means he is nailed on to join us . Have u not noticed that Villa's transfers tend to conducted outside of the media and are be a bit of a surprise when they happen, we only ever see credible links to players that we purchase about 2 or 3 days prior to announcing the player as ours.

Not from me. I have still to see any recommendations as to an alternative to McGinn. We just don't have many captain material players which is why nobody will suggest a captain other than McGinn and just moan about him as captain
-
But clearly Gerrard doesn't want Mings as captain. We don't know the reasons behind this decision but we do know this is the decision. We have just got to live with that. So without Mings as captain who should it be? This thread looks more like an anti McGinn threat when it is actually appears to be a thread of not liking Mings losing the captaincy
