  1. We need OldVillan to tell his sister to get her finger out and sort out the legal issues
  2. We are taking the best young players from other clubs e.g. Ewan Simpson from Hearts last week, Ross Wilson from Rangers at start of July and each year we do the same. Its the circle of life and Villa is getting damn good at it. 20m for Chuk and Tim Iroegbunam becoming a 1st teamer and we took him from Baggies in July last year for a nominal fee.
  3. The great thing about this transfer is that we won't miss him and he didn't contribute anything to our 1st team so there is nothing to miss
  4. I agree, it is great business. That said, the 4m for Targett (I assume the loan fee last season) can't really be considered in this window, otherwise u should really include the Digne fee. Either way, 7m or 1mm net spend it is still great business
  5. But if u believe Chuk won't get game time at Chelsea how are we making them stronger?
  6. I am not doubting u but who is our number 2 sale? I thought it was Targett at 15m.
  7. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62398766 Bbc saying 20m. Cracking bit of business by Purslow
  8. I agree. Selling players for profit is hugely important. Yes, I would prefer Chuk to stay at Villa but as it was clear he wanted pastures new it is a great bit of business by the club to get a (I am assuming) decent fee.
  9. Fikayo Tomori is another name for you and there are more. The better youth players do get a chance at Chelsea and Chelsea has a demonstrable path to a successful career for these players
  10. Mason Mount, Tammy, Hudson O all had good development at Chelsea. They had tactically astute loans followed by opportunities in the 1st 11. Mount is now a first team regular, Tammy became an international and got a big transfer to Roma and I beklieve Hudson O has had injury issues. The path is there at Chelsea
  11. It does scream that we have a management team that understand the financial aspect of the game is extremely important to build future success. If we can offload Hause, Traore, Guilbert and Nakamba we could be in a positive net spend for 2 successive season which would be unbelievable considering that our squad is much improved.
  12. The negative feelings towards Chuk and the accusations of his motives can also be directed towards quite a few of the young players we are now loving watching come through to the senior squad. Only 2 years ago Tim Iroegbunam was Baggies young player of the year. It doesn't make them a bad person if they decide they want to continue their development at a more successful club.
  13. I expect we will have a sell on clause so I am hoping he will be very successful
  14. Getting this done quickly would suggest we are getting a decent fee for him. I wouldn't mind seeing Gallagher coming the other way
  15. And while u are at it, can we have a countdown clock too
  16. I agree completely and I think Man U and Arsenal are going to have it very tough this season as Spurs, City and Liverpool each appear to be stronger and Chelsea haven't finished yet. It is similar to saying we should get X amount of points imo. It is all relative to other clubs and in the case of points, it is relative to how strong the top 2 are and how weak the bottom 3 are. There is only a finite amount of points available and if the top 2/3 streak off on a record points total and the bottom 3 are stronger than the norm then points will go down for a 7th place while a tight race at the top without a breakaway group and points for 7th will rise.
  17. I would not be confident of Europa if Conte was manager. I think the top 6 are fairly clear and I am not including us in the bottom 4/5. So that leaves about 10 teams fighting for position in upper to lower mid table with the winner of this finishing 7th. That means finishing ahead of Leicester, Newcastle, Wolves, West Ham and Palace while assuming that Saints, Everton, Leeds and Brentford don't have a surprise season. To be confident of finishing ahead of all of those teams is a leap too far for me regardless of the manager. Yes we have an outside shot of it but by no means confident. I am confident we will finish top half, I expect 8th or 9th but hope for 7th.
  18. I would say it is quite close to +1, yes there will be some anomalies but the correlation will be there
  19. accident? I think assault may be a better choice of word
  20. Snap, but I think we are in a much stronger position this time around.
  21. Reading your post highlights just how strong our bench is. We have been threadbare in recent years, its comforting to see the strength in depth which must be worth a good few points over the course of the season
  22. He is also 20 years old. I understand players develop at different rates but by 20 he should be old enough to prove his worth in the team. He has the potential to come on as a sub and score a goal and earn himself a starting place and could go on to have a 15+ goal season. It is really exciting for Villa to have Archer in the 1st team this season
  23. We kinda upgraded our strike force today by confirming that Archer will be staying and will be part of the first team squad But yes, I agree with your post
  24. I disagree, There is nothing wrong with highlighting something that is clearly incorrect. As I said, there is a difference between linguistics and context. As for pedantry, the wording changes the meaning, hardly minor!
