  1. I am not sure it is a memory thing, I think the brain actively tries to suppress bad memories as a form of self protection. I, happily can't remember much of Bruce or Xia's tenure. I remember more about other teams than I do about us duing Learner's era
  2. Sub'd early to avoid injury following a late evening bid from now 20m richer Aston Villa?
  3. But we have NSWE and Purslow, they have Dildo sellers and ex pornstars on their board and a reality show ex Blue. Surely there is limited competition there
  4. I like the target of getting to where West Ham are, I would love to be there. I can't wait for European football
  5. I think u need to slight modify your VT username
  6. Yep, I can't argue with that but I think where Villa are at the moment I much prefer to see us pick up lots of top talent for a few hundred grand a pop than blowing 20m and putting all the risk on one player. In 4 years time Ross Wilson could be worth far more than Chuk. I really like the way Villa are doing things at the moment, I just hope SG can deliver on the pitch to match all the outstanding business in every other aspect of the club
  7. Even if Chuk signed a contract extension I didn't have him in my thinking to have any impact on the first team this year. Sangare is apparently available for 20m/25m. If we signed him I would expect him to have a direct influence on us finishing higher up the table
  8. There is no debate there, better to have the 20m now, he is still learning his trade. An alternative question. If Villa spent 20m buying Chuk from another club, would we be happy?
  9. I get what you are saying, maybe it is just wording but I don't think any fixtures for us will be 'very easy'. I am being a Graham Taylor and saying there are no easy games in International football . I expect 6 points, I think Bournemouth should be the easier but a draw against Everton is not out of the question imo
  10. Ash was a reported 16m. Barry 12.5m and Milner was 18m + Ireland which probably nets out at about 1m
  11. I agree we are favourites, but very easy fixtures is a step too far for me. Bournemouth, first game back up, in their ground has banana skin written on it. Everton are a tough team to beat, yes they had a poor season last year but it is never an easy fixture.
  12. Yes we are favourites but to say Bournemouth away and Everton at home are 'very easy' fixtures is a little overzealous
  13. I think u may be on the wrong thread
  14. But not to Chelsea, I think that is the point Edit: To add to that, the 'leaks' from Villa were that we wanted 20m for an 18 year old with one year left on his contract and only 300 mins first team play in his entire AVFC career. They may be tactical leaks I suspect
  15. Exactly and no doubt CP is thinking that too. He will also be thinking that Gerrard may have to be replaced and if we get a new manager in, that manager (Pochettino ) would want a bit of a war chest
  16. I expect ElGhazi will go close to deadline day and probably on a free or nominal fee. It is clear we want rid and he will just be a burden on our financials next season so a club will come in late and pick him up for close to free. Nakamba will be 8m+ and we are not as desperate to sell, I can see a loan deal later in the window. Guilbert, I am surprised we haven't had a 5m bid, it shows the lack of cash in the French league. Traore is the big one for me. Big wage and big transfer fee. I would like a loan to Italy for him. In a slower game he may be brilliant and that could lead to a good transfer fee next summer
  17. https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/the-21-chelsea-players-out-on-loan-in-2021-22-how-theyre-faring-cobham-academy/ I consider getting big money moves to Roma or AC Milan as a successful move in a player's career
  18. I tend to agree. Yes I would like more shiny new toys for Gerrard to play with but the toys we have are quite good. If we really want to test Gerrard's (and his team's) coaching ability we should probably just stop with what we have. We could even afford to offload a few and still be in a good position. I think we genuinely have 2 players for every position so on that basis we should be moving to a one in / one out transfer strategy
  19. Sky saying Chuk to sign a 6 year contract. I assume he is getting a very good salary. That's a heck of a lot of guaranteed money for an 18 year old.
  20. I still think, given game time that Sanson can be a big player for Villa. He has showed so much promise when he had the injury free opportunities but sadly he has never had a proper run in the team
  21. Hudson Odoi stalling his career was due to serious injury
  22. I believe it was 21 players they had out on loan last year. The ones I mentioned are a subset of the successes and yes, it absolutely stands to reason that not all young players will be a success, it is the minority that will become a success. I never suggested otherwise. As I said in another comment above, the better young players have a career path at Chelsea. Its not a personal opinion, it is a fact and I have given u 4 recent examples and there are more
